FrostClan Small-Trees

The Small-Trees are exactly what their name suggests, a grove of small pines which Twolegs occasionally tend to and cause disruption in the territory. Only the toughest plants like brambles survive here and prey is somewhat scarce.

Violetpaw lead the way to the small trees, looking out for any herbs that might be useful to the clan. She pricked her ears at the sound of prey russelinf around. Hunting had never been her thinf, but she knew the apprentices behind her probably couldn't wait to catch something, though they were trying to stay calm and look for herbs.

"You can catch something if you want." She wispered to them, as to not scare prey, mainly to Aspnpaw who was fidgeting the most.

Crowpaw nodded curtly, looking around. "I think I see bats." she mewed, looking up. A swarm of bats overhead were given away only by their wings disrupting the starlight. "Maybe some of them are close enough to catch?" she suggested.

Asterpaw purred, stalking away from the other cats in search of prey. Feeling a bit guilty, she turned her head and said, "I'll keep an eye out for those herbs." She parted her jaws, breathing in the night air. Scents of small mammals and birds mingled on her tongue. Asterpaw clawed her way up a weak, young tree, seeing a robin's nest. She snorted as she realized it was deserted. Leaping back to the ground, she stalked her way through the undergrowth, scenting a shrew. Slowly approaching it, she waggled her haunches pounced, sinking her claws into the warm prey.

Crowpaw scrambled atop a small tree and perched herself on a branch, tail lashing as she watched the small mammals fly overhead, squeaking and chattering to each other. She braced herself, then sprang off the branch, catching the bat midair in her claws. She quickly placed it in her mouth and landed, narrowly avoiding falling to the forest floor.

Ratpaw admired how well his friends hunted. He opened his jaws and was met with a strong scent of crow hitting the roof of his mouth. He plodded over to a new willow tree and scrambled up one of its branches clumsily before copying Crowpaw's technique and leaping at the long-legged avian midair. He bit down and cracked its neck, landing on the ground heavily and awkwardly twisting his front paw. He flinched before nudging the crow under a pine tree and keeping a lookout for some herbs to help out Violetpaw.

IC: Violetpaw looked around, finding a small patch of Goldenrod, she carefully took the leaves as to not damage the roots so the plant would regrow. "I found Goldenrod!" She called out to the others happily. Hopefully she could find some more poppy seeds but she was glad to have at least found the goldenrod so early in their expedition.

OOC: Hey Leo and Daisy, Do you think it would be alright if our group found some herbs already harvested but harvested poorly from one of the raids? Or is that a no? I just thought it might be cool but I am fine with not doing that.

OOC: The raids haven't occurred here yet, so maybe? I think the WaterClan group is going to finish there and move to here, and maybe they could see them?

Asterpaw spotted ~~tormentil~~ some yellow flowers from which she recognized the scent from the medicine den, but didn't know the name of them. She bit into the stems and padded over to Violetpaw, dropping them at her feet. "I found some of these," she mewed, feeling dumb because she didn't know what herb it was.

IC: Starlingpae nodded. She padded for awhile until a scent caught her nose. Starling!! she thought. She raced up the tree where the bird was pecking at some old leaves. She crouched and crawled forward. Then she reached a paw out and killed it. Its a scrawny one..... she thought. But any prey is welcome in Leaf-bare

Redstripe had followed her, and had just climbed up the tree to lay on a sturdy branch when she started stalking it. Well done! He wanted to call out, but stayed silent, watching her carefully.

Starlingpaw buried her starling and moved on. She came upon a mouse. She crouched and slowly approached it. But she stepped on a twig and it bolted. "No!!" She said, chasing after it. But the mouse got under some brambles. "Fox-Dung!" She shouted.

Starlingpaw looked above and saw some acorns. She had a plan. She carefully scampered up the tree. When she reached the top, she carefully tugged at the nuts until they broke free. She hurried down with the nuts in her mouth.

Starlingpaw kept watch and sure enough, a greedy little mouse came up and started to eat one of them. Starlingpaw made sure she was downwind and then pounced. I caught it!!! My plan worked! she thought.

Russetpaw muttered and cursed beneath his breath, long tail lashing furiously as he crouched, amber eyes set on a bird that had landed nearby.

Duststorm walked along with Willowpaw, blue eyes taking in everything around them. "How are you feeling today, Willowpaw?" He asked softly, deep voice full of concern for his apprentice.

Crowsong heard cats nearby and saw Russetpaw hunting. She looked at the apprentice, hoping he'd notice her so they could cooperate to take down the bird.

Russetpaw glanced up and flicked his tail towards the bird when he saw Crowsong. He lowered himself into the correct position, stalking forward slowly.

With a low snarl, Russetpaw leapt forward, paws outstretched and claws unsheathed as he attempted to pounce on the bird. His claws raked down its back but it was still able to take flight in a weak attempt at escaping.

Crowsong leapt forward, grabbing the bird in her forepaws midair and placing it in her mouth as she landed. She crushed its neck under her jaws then blinked happily at Russetpaw.

Willowpaw was staring at a tree, when she realized her mentor was talking to her. " Huh.. oh.. um.. I'm good, yeah, great.. " She meowed quickly but quietly, she was to busy studying the trees around them.

Willowpaw stared at the trees, then closed her eye to think. She was focusing on how Russetpaw hunted, funny enough. She opened her eyes and looked around... ahh! A bird! " Um.. " She quickly lowered herself, making the bird turn, which worried her. She was a little frightened to make fun of herself, so she waited.
