Darkfrost was surpsrised when Redstar called his name. Am I really the new deputy of this clan? He thought to himself with shock. He shook it off, cleared his throat before saying, "Thank you Redstar. It is truly an honor to help serve the clan." He couldn't wait to start his deputy duties alongside Nightpelt.

Acornwhisker dipped her head to Darkfrost, flicking her tail as she grabbed a small rabbit from the freshkill pile and made her way to the leader's den. "Redstar?" she called inside softly after placing the rabbit at her paws.

Nightpelt blinked in surprise at the sudden switch of deputies and looked over at Darkfrost, dipping his head in congratulations.

Valleykit raced out of the nursery. She ran to Darkfrost, showing her small kitten teeth. "Congratulations Darkfrost!" She smiled. "I hope you will do well."

Berry kit pounced on his sister, Mistkit. "Can I play?" He stood a bit off, wanting to play.

Redstar flicked her ears at the sound of her name. Recognizing Acornwhisker's voice, she meowed, "Come in," softly. "What's the matter?" she said, concerned.

Nightpelt sighed as he watched Redstar leave to her den with acorn whisker following. He flicked his tail and dipped his head to Darkfrost, "Would you like to organize your first patrols? We'll need some prey for the camp before the gathering." He explained.

Darkfrost nodded happily and replied with a smile "I really would like to." Just as he said that, his stomach growled reminding him what Nightpelt said was true. He hoped that no one else heard. With that he cleared his throat and spoke up. "As my first night as a deputy, I would like to organize my first hunting patrol before we head off to the gathering tonight. I would like Snowfeatherand Cloudheart, to join me for a quick hunt."

Nightpelt nodded in contentment and flicked his tail, looking for cats to go on a quick border patrol with him as well, "Blackberry, Darkshadow, Frostflame and Claypaw, you'll be going on a quick border patrol with me." He announced.

Nightpelt shuffled his paws slightly, feeling guilty he hadn't taken Claypaw out on a border patrol yet after being so busy as deputy. "Well, I guess this'll be your first time, you can be our look-out for any mysterious scents." He meowed, winking over to Claypaw.

"That's good to hear. I'm good too, just still kinda shocked at what happened today." Darkfrost said. He always wanted to be deputy, but he never thought that Redstar would actually choose him.

"I wonder what's going to happen tonight." Darkfrost said. He would've said that he was going too, but deputies always go to clan gatherings unless they are sick or too injured.

Flintkit smiled. "Sure!" He ran out and picked up two mice from the fresh kill pile, and padded back sheepishly, placing a mouse in front of Sunkit, before eating his own.
