Clan Information
Season & Time of Day:
Leafbare (Dec/Jan/Feb)
Noon (12-2pm)

Weather & News:
Snow is beginning to fall on the territories, covering everything in a blanket of soft white powder. The winds are chilly coming off of the mountains, and it is suggested that everyone save their strength for hunting and training to defend your territory.
WaterClan is discussing a way to get rid of their alligator problem before leafbare truly sets in, while DuskClan is still facing an epidemic of sickness. FireClan and FrostClan have become cautious allies with BrightClan, since the prophecy contained all three Clans, and are trying to find a way to get rid of the rogues.

Mini-Guide :: Naming your Warrior cat

Hello! This is a small guide to help you choose what to name your characters if you're struggling to find one that seems to suit them. There are two main methods to consider if you are wanting to keep a 'traditional' sort of name: their Clan origins, and their appearances.

Just remember, this is a guide, and you don't really have to stick to it if you really want to name your character something.

Each Clan has its own unique territory which, by logic, should produce different names. For instance if you were to guess where an apprentice named Moorpaw would be placed, you would probably choose BrightClan or DuskClan as both of them have moorland-type territories. Here is a short description of each territory, and a list of what sort of names you would expect to find within those Clans.

DuskClan is a little different to the other Clans as it has come from two Clans, LeafClan and CloudClan, though they now live on mostly CloudClan territory. Their names tend to come a lot more from nature, as they have a combination of moorland, trees, and cliffs to give them inspirations. They are most similar to WindClan and SkyClan territory-wise, and their names are the most based in nature.
Some common DuskClan names start with Rabbit, Cliff, Stone, Grass, Quail, Pheasant, Sedge, Boulder, Wind/Breeze, Sky, Flower (of most types), Whisper, and Running. Those often stem from CloudClan names, while the LeafClan names are more similar to trees, plants, and animals like Oak, Birch, Stoat, Mouse, Mint, Sage, Thorn, and Bracken.

FireClan can be considered a combination of ThunderClan and ShadowClan from the book clans, with lots of pine trees but also open areas of slightly marshy ground. However the most unique part of their territory is the volcano, and because of this, FireClan's names are quite strong but smooth in nature, matching their holistically enthustiastic but stubborn personality.
Some common FireClan names start with Tiger, Vole, Vixen, Adder, Pine, Holly, Slate, Shadow, Meadow, Scorch, Wild, Dawn, Bramble, Yarrow, and Ragged.

WaterClan’s unique territory is one that can be compared to RiverClan, with water being their main source of prey. Obviously this is going to be a large influence on their naming, as they respect their waters and give homage to them, but the sea and plants are also influences too. Their names tend to flow, similar to the waters.
Some common WaterClan names start with the many types of fish, Gull, Duck, Mangrove, Island, Marsh, Sand, Pebble, Moss, Reed, Ocean/Sea/River/Brook/Stream/Creek/Aqua etc, Glowing, Weed, and Tangle.

The territory of BrightClan is a vast moorland with gnarled trees and splits in the earth their only safety from the constant breeze off the sea. It is rather sandy and dry, but that hasn’t dampened their high spirits and energetic nature. Their names are hard to pin down, as they refer more often to concepts than physical objects, like dreams and stories. Their territory is most like WindClan’s, though not quite the same.
Some BrightClan names start with Flicker, Flint, Wave, any sort of patterns, birds, sea-themed names like Sand and Beach, Dream, Spirit, Pebble, Music, Harmony, Dawn, Sunrise, Creek, Sky, Mist/y, colours like Ivory, Red, Blue, Green, White, and Yellow, Aurora, Light, Gold/en, Moth, Firefly, and precious stones (though they aren't called that by the cats) like Jasper, Amethyst, Amber, Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire.

Though often compared to FireClan’s territory, FrostClan is unique and thrives on many types of trees, lots of undergrowth, and has learned to climb and use their territory’s highs and lows to their advantage. They are most similar to ThunderClan and SkyClan, though they do have some ShadowClan traits in the simple fact that they value themselves above most other cats, including the other Clans.
Common FrostClan names include Eagle, Stone, Lichen, Abyss, Night, Ivy, Grey, Long, Falcon, Tall, Feather, Slip, Silver, Talon, Cloud, Snow, Ice, Lightning, Thunder, and Storm.

Clans in this world tend to not stick to the rule of “don’t name your kit after the Clan names”, otherwise we’d have big problems as the Clan names are rather common prefixes throughout the Warriors series. We don’t do cats with kittypet-warrior names (like Billystorm and Harveymoon), however if you wish to name your cat something that is not within the Warriors universe, talk to an administrator and they will advise whether or not it is able to be used.
Some cats have been named after human creatures of myth such as phoenix or angel; the origins of our Clans come a lot from kittypet and loner backgrounds, so it is plausible that the kittypets once knew of stories about these strange creatures, similar to the way that within the Warriors universe the cats know about lions, tigers, and leopards.

As a note about suffixes, consult the list if you're having a hard time choosing. Since the Clans' names are also quite common suffixes, when you are of one Clan and are given the suffix of your clan, say Dawnfire of FireClan, or Emberdusk of DuskClan, it is seen as an honour and mark of your loyalty to your Clan, though anyone can earn the name.

Of course it is common that a cat, even a non-Clan cat, is named by the colours or patterns on their fur; a cat with the prefix “Tawny” is obviously not going to be completely white, while a cat with the prefix (or suffix) “Snow” might be white, grey, have some pale speckles within their pelt pattern, or a combination of those things. It is less common that a cat is named for their eye colour, as typically cats have blue eyes when they are born.
Some cats can be named after unique features of their body, such as Deadfoot of WindClan, who has a twisted forepaw, and Crookedstar, who was named Crookedjaw as a warrior for his crooked jaw (duh). This can sometimes appear to be mean or spiteful, such as Bluestar’s renaming of Brightpaw to Lostface when she wasn’t expected to survive the dog attack. This name affected Lostface throughout the time she had the name, and it wasn’t until Firestar renamed her Brightheart did she realise her self-worth, so this is something to consider as a roleplayer.
The founder of one of our Clans named Waterstar was first seen as a cat named Thrushpaw; an incident where he almost drowned caused him to be renamed Waterpaw at his own request. This is a common occurence, and cats can request to have their name changed if they feel it no longer suits them, such as moving from being a loner into the Clan, or they can change their own names when they leave. (A ceremony is not necessary in the latter case; by leaving the Clan, they no longer have a link to their heritage and their name no longer has its true meaning.)
