“Feather. Her name can be Feather.” He said then nosed the last kit, who bit him hard on the nose. “Ow!” He said and scrambled back a bit.

Rooster snorted. “Well they deserve it for being arrogant jerks.” He said, remembering the small white rooster who bit him and chased him around the fields.

Sapphire smiled at the two happy parents. "Congratulations you two. If you need any hep, you can ask my sisters or I. I'm just gonna leave now so you guys can meet your kits." He said, walking away, smiling.

Nugget slipped through the hole at the bottom of the barn, a plump thrush dangling from his jaws. "Look what I caught! All by myself." His meow came muffled through the feathers. He bounded over to where Rooster, and Indie were and dropped his prey immediately. "Kits!" He mewed in excitement, his eyes shining. The young tom watched them curiously, with a purr. "I'm gonna have friends now!" He blurted out, turning to Rooster, "I can teach them how to catch rabbits." Although it was obvious he had no knowledge of hunting the fat rabbits in the field, he thought so differently.

“Well, they’re a little young right now, but thank you for offering.” Indie tried to sound genuine but it came out a little curt, her exhaustion finally catching up with her. She wrapped her tail around the three kits.

Fang curled up besides her mother, letting out a tiny sneeze.

Indie purred weakly. “Thank you, Rooster. I’m sure you will.” She put her head down and almost immediately fell asleep. Spike nuzzled closer in to her warmth.

Indie nudged Spike to his paws, purring lightly as the kit stumbled for a few moments and then fell face first into another lump of hay. She shook her head, glancing up as she saw Rooster again.

Feather sat up slowly and glowered at a piece of hay on her head, reaching up to bat at it with her paws only to fall over with a squeak.

Rooster sighed, but beamed with happiness. He nudged Fang, for she had sat on his paw and refused to move. She stumbled forward but regained her balance.

Feather let out what sounded like a mix of a growl and purr, pushing Spike away with a paw. She huffed and curled up, watching them from over her tail.

Nugget shrugged and padded over towards his area among the hay, chewing on the mouse. He licked his whiskers, and curled up after finishing the prey. A moment later, his eyes blinked open wide, and he groaned, curling up tighter. "My stomach..." He whined, clenching it with his paws.
