WaterClan Deep Swamp

The 'Deep Swamp' is the main place where the cats go to fish on the northern area of the Small Ponds, and draining directly out to the ocean. It looks like any ordinary swamp to any other clans, but the WaterClan cats have a special sense of deep water which they learn from their mentors as apprentices. Since this is the place where fresh water meets salt, there is a large abundance of salmon here during the last moon of leafbare through to the last moon of newleaf, but plenty of other fish sit in these waters.

Spottedface padded here, with Troutsplash and Turtlestone following close behind. "This is a great place to fish. " She meowed towards Turtlestone.

Turtlestone frowned as he stared at the deep water. "Isn't it dangerous?" He asked, dabbing his paw on the surface of the swamp's water, which sent ripples.

Windpaw bounded ahead of Salmonpelt. "I can't wait!!" she mewed excitedly, bending over the swamp and sitting down.

Salmonpelt watched Windpaw, and sat down next to her. "Know how to fish?" he asked.

Rubblewind stretched as he walked through the trees to the edge of the Swamp, his ears pricked and eyes glancing around warily. "Okay, let's hunt," he glanced behind him at Carrotspots and Rainstorm.

IC: "Whatever." Carrotspots scoffed, sulking off to fish.
Rainstorm gave Rubblewind a friendly nudge and darted off to the salty waters, which were swarming with salmon.

Rubblewind squeaked, following Rainstorm after a few moments. "I think the queens would enjoy some salmon."

Rainstorm smirked and flicked her tail, perching on a gnarled root at the water's edge. Mosquitos and other insects buzzed all around, occasionally ripples would appear showing the hungry fish under the surface.
"Sunrise is seriously like, the best time to fish." she sighed, breaking her concentration from the water to look back at Rubblewind.

IC: "Oh?" Rainstorm purred flirtatiously, "Well have fun catching minnows, I'm going to the deep end." She bounded gracefully over the tree roots out towards the deeper areas of the swamp.

Rainstorm yelped as she misstepped and fell into the water. She heaved herself out of the water, dripping wet with traces of water plants caught in her fur.

Rubblewind snorted loudly. "Oh jeez. You okay?" He took a few steps towards her, starting to pick the plants out.

"Yes, though I'd defiantly prefer if that hadn't happened." Rainstorm grumbled, shaking the water off her pelt and flinging pieces of seaweed and algae off in the process. "Now I'm gonna smell awful all day."

Rubblewind spat out the piece of weed that hit him in the mouth. "Well. You can always take another swim. Or should I fall in so we both smell bad?"

"That's a perfect idea!" she shouted gleefully, "We can just be gross weed warriors together for the rest of the day!" She crouched down, eyes wide and tail bushy, staring at him with playful malice.

Rainstorm responded by launching forward and barreling into him, giggling as they tumbled off the knotted tree root and into the murky salt water below.

Rubblewind splashed the water at Rainstorm, purring in amusement.

"Blegh!" Rainstorm exclaimed, spitting out salt water as she struggled to find her footing on the loose, muddy soil below. She giggled and ducked under the water, then leaped out and slammed her paws down on the surface, spraying water everywhere.

Carrotspots heard lots of giggling and splashing in the distance and decided to ignore it as she continued searching the water for fish.

Rubblewind made a noise similar to a human "agh!" as he tasted salt, slipping under the water to try and slick the fur out of his eyes but pushing off a rock and barrelling into Rainstorm's hind legs to knock her over.

Rainstorm let out a surprised "brrp!" and collapsed, nearly sucking in water as she tried to hold back laughter. She splashed to the surface and stared intensely at Rubblewind, giggling.

Carrotspots finally turned and looked at her other two patrolmates, a fish struggling in her mouth. She gave them a disapproving blink and went back to fishing.

"Haha, yeah...I think we scared off all the fish." Rainstorm pointed out, paddling towards land, her legs starting to feel sore from treading water for so long.

"It's greenleaf, not as if there's a shortage of prey." Rubblewind rolled his eyes with a purr, licking Rainstorm's ear and almost immediately pretending to gag.

"True, but it must suck to just be minding you own business and having to ignore, whatever that was." Rainstorm burst out laughing, "Oh great SoulClan I feel like a kit again! What was that?!?" She buried her head in Rubblewind's flank, giggling hysterically.

Rubblewind chuckled along, running his tail along her back to try and calm her. "I think we should actually catch some prey now, though."

She caught her breath and looked him in the eyes again, her eyes still squinting happily. "Yeah, we can do this later, this is a hunting patrol!" She bounded off into the swamp, her dainty paws hardly making a sound against the squishy wetland floor. She stopped at a dropoff from the shallow water into the deep swamp. Several tadpoles wiggled out from under her paws and she snapped at the water, catching an unlucky one and swallowing it.

Rubblewind chuckled and walked up lightly beside her, leaning against her a little and purring lightly before his paw flashed out and a salmon was flapping in the shallows beside him. He finished it with a quick nip behind the ears and twitched his whiskers in amusement in Rainstorm's direction.

She gagged from the taste, but to her satisfaction she saw that the tadpoles had attracted several salmon. She flicked her paw against the water, claws unsheathed, and dragged a flapping salmon onto the shore. She quickly snapped its spine and dropped it behind her, waiting for another opportunity.

Rubblewind fluffed his fur slightly, feeling a little embarrassed that he was showing off and she wasn't watching, and instead caught two more salmon in quick succession.

Rainflower flicked her paw at another fish, missing by a whisker. She cursed under her breath and continued to scan the water for fish.
Carrotspots trotted towards Rubblewind, her jaws filled with salmon, then dropped them by his paws. "Should we head back soon?" she sighed.

"Oh, on my own?" Carrotspots mewed, glancing back and forth between him and Rainstorm. "Uh, I guess I'll meet you two back at camp then." she mumbled. She picked up her catches and darted off towards camp.

Rainstorm watched their patrolmate go sympathetically. She probably feels pretty left out..

Rubblewind poked her side with his paw. "Don't be silly," he purred back, then darted off towards one of the streams running into the swamp.

"What does that mean!" she giggled, chasing after him. She completely forgot that they were there to be hunting while she ran after Rubblewind, her mind tunneling only to the moment.
