redstripes ears twitched and he ran along the wood pile quietly for a little way after a little bit he stopped and dug his paw into a hole in the wood there was a squeal and then it stopped, he pulled his paw out a mouse in the pam of his paw, his claws in keeping the mouse from rolling out of his paw

" nice catch!" blackfrost called to him before smelling the air

Quickstep saw a collapsed tree and a bird's nest in ruins. Her heart sped up. Eggs! She pelted to the tree and pushed through the branches, then picked up a cracked egg in her jaws.

redstripe covered his mouse in leaves then walked over to blackfrost and quickstep

She set the egg down again. "Fallen nest!" she called. She saw a bird shoot overhead, chattering, possibly mourning for its lost young.

blackfrost narrowed her eyes at the bird then jumped at a tree limb pushing off it jumping onto the bird, that was flying very low to the ground. she rolled biting into the bird then landing on her feet. bird in her jaws

" great catch." redstripe meowed

"Great catch!" Quickstep mewed, flicking her tail. "Do you think you can help me with the rest of these eggs?"

" do you guys think this is enough prey, or should we catch some more." redstripe meowed

She picked up the egg carefully and carried it over to where she'd buried the shrew.

blackfrost dug at the base of the fallen tree and dropped her bird in, then covered it up

"Not usually, they're a lot of trouble to get to here." Quickstep mewed, the paused for a moment. "Back in BrightClan, there were a bunch of flightless birds that nested in thick grass. We took eggs from them whenever it was difficult to find prey."

Quickstep cursed silently under her breath. "Yeah, I used to be in BrightClan, back before SunClan took over." she mewed, "Then I escaped. I tried to take my mate and kit with me, but we got caught."

"I sent my kit off, told her to meet back with us later. One of their cats chased her down, I still have no idea what happened to her. They had us outnumbered, but I refused to go back to SunClan. Me and Gravelpelt fought side by side. For a moment, I thought we'd win..." Quickstep mewed, her voice trembling with emotion.
"Then their awful deputy struck him down, slit his throat. She pinned me down next. I knew I was carrion. But out of no where, a MoonClan patrol, lead by FrostClan's fearsome deputy Dappleshade, raced out and chased them away long enough for me to escape. You young ones would know her by Dapplestar though."

"Not like I had the worst of it though." she snorted, feeling a little guilty for their empathy, "At least I wasn't in BrightClan during the war. They had the worst of it."

"Huh. You were all kits and apprentices when it all happened. Of corse you don't remember." she mewed sullenly, "They weren't allowed to leave camp except for joining patrols. They were treated like carrion and used as bait in most fights."

"Viperstar." Quickstep mewed, forgetting about the hunting and getting caught up in her memory. "At first he was just an ordinary warrior. The out of no where, Coalstar and both his deputies died all in one day and he ended up in charge. Everyone figured he'd killed them for sure, but after a while it became obvious how he got there didn't matter."
