DuskClan Bird Song Trees

(with more trees of course)

Not too far west of the camp and nestled against the cliffs is a group of trees the Clan has named the Bird Song Trees, after the 'legend' of one of old CloudClan's earliest members. This is because no matter the season or the time of day there will always be birds in the trees, often attracted by the fruit they bear. The low-hanging branches of the small birches, oaks, pines, cherries, apples, and maples allow cats to climb them easily, and the ground has plenty of small mammals to hunt too.

Mistystorm padded in flicking her tail, waiting for the others. She opened her mouth to check for at scents, or prey scents.

Mapleleaf quietly walked through the trees, It's so beautiful here! she thought, instantly smelling a vole. She stalked away toward the scent.

Firecloud padded around, acknowledging that Mapleleaf had gone after the vole by flicking his tail tip.

Mistystorm crawled silently down wind from the vole Mapleleaf was stalking, so she wouldn't ruin the hunt.

Firecloud opened his jaws to breathe in the air around him. He scented a robin and heard its call a second later. The bird was directly above his head. He bunched his muscles and leaped, landing on the branch and grabbing the bird in his claws. He nipped its neck and dropped it on the ground. He yowled in surprise as the branch cracked under his weight. He fell off the tree and landed with a thump on the ground.

Mapleleaf stalked the vole, close to the ground. She heard a thumping noise and turned her head. The vole heard it too and scampered away.

" Firecloud?" Mistystorm meowed, darting to him. " are you ok?" She asked glancing at limp that broke. " you should not have got on there in the first place, it obviously couldn't hold your weight." She meowed.

Firecloud clumsily got to his paws, licking is chest fur in embarrassment. "What, are you calling me fat?" he said good humoredly. He scraped earth over his robin and slunk away, in search of more prey.

Mapleleaf hissed in annoyance, hearing tiny paws in the undergrowth.

Firecloud stiffened as he heard terrified yowling coming from the border. "Did you hear that?" he whispered to Mistystorm.

Lightstep led his patrol here, pricking his ears and parting his jaws, searching for the scents and smells of prey. He heard the beating of wings in the trees and lifted his head, spotting a flash of blue feathers. Lightstep scrambled up the tree, his pelt hidden by the leaves, and crouched on the thick branch. He lunged, sinking his claws into the bird's spine. Bird in mouth, he leaped down from the branch.

Picks up a scent of a bird in a tree nearby. Cowers into hunting prowl and moves silently to the tree. Agilely climbs up tree to then spot the bird. Takes a quick leap and catches bird. Carrys it off between her jaws and burries her pray beneath the tree to pick up later.

Grassflight padded across the wet grass, results of the light drizzle last night. She flicked her tail to Smokepaw, leading him behind a bush and into a small clearing with six tall oak trees towering over it. The rustle of prey in the undergrowth drew her closer, and without waiting for Smokepaw, she dropped into the hunting crouch and pounced at a plump mouse under a leaf. She felt the satisfaction as it's scent lingered into her nose. "Come on, Smokepaw! Don't take all day." she giggled, dropping the mouse and burying it under a little patch of sand to collect later.

Tealpaw ran away, before tripping and falling in a hole. He was covered in snow, and it was too deep to climb out. He struggled.

Mistystorm looked at Dragonmoon. " You hold her back legs, and while she shovels the snow ill grab it out of her paws to put it on land so it doesn't slide back in. Then when we uncover Tealpaw, ill grab one leg you grab the other. She will grab Tealpaw and we will haul them up.

Seapaw nodded. Still uncertain, she slid into the hole, but accidentily pulled back her back lgs and fell ontop of Tealpaw fully. She winced in pain, as her chin hit Tealpaw's forehead. She pulled Tealpaw out, looking up at Dragonmoon and Mistystorm. "Guys! Get help!" she called, the unconcious Tealpaw on her back. Her paws started to sink in the snow.

Mistystorm growled softly. "mouse-brain." She mumbled. " ok. New plan, you hold my paws and ill bring Tealpaw up first, then Seapaw." She meowed, then slithered to the edge of the hole, his back paws planted firmly in the snow as she dangled over the edge.

Mistystorm mumbled something about getting a mousebrain apprentice, then grabbed Tealpaws scruff in her jaws, and rapping her paws around thsmall aprentice. She waved her tail to tell Dragonmoon to pull her up.

Mistystorm grunted with effort as she shoved upward with her back legs, sending snow flying into Seapaw. She fell backwards with a yelp, and landed in the snow, her paws still rapped tightly around Tealpaw. She sighed and rolled the tom off her before standing back up. " now for Seapaw." She mumbled to herself before crawling to the hole, hanging over it, only her hand legs keeping her up. She yelped as she started to slip. " Dragonmoon!" She hissed in her frantic squabble to get her full body onto solid land.

Mistystorm used all her strangth to shove dragonmoon up, who had slipped into her shoulder, and while doing so sent herself off the edge. She tumbled down next to Seapaw. " fox dung!" She cursed, looking up at Dragonmoon. " Dragonmoon?" She called.

Seapaw yelped, before the snow collapsed inside deeper. The hole now was maybe three fox-lengths deep, barely any sunlight touching the inside. Seapaw unsheathed her claws, pouncing as high as she could. She felt one claw hook onto the edge, but fell into the snow again. "Fox-dung!" she hissed, trying again three times until she got both paws onto the ledge. The snow she was gripping onto crumbled and let her down. "Ugh! It's no use!"

OOC: Is tealpaw with you, or is he up on the ledge?

Seapaw mewed helplessly, her head plunging under the snow. Even though she was a mouse-brain, she was in trouble.

Tealpaw opened his eyes, feeling his lungs start to freeze. His paws twitched achingly. His cold gaze wavered. His ears flattened as he tried to stand. "W-W-Wai-t... D-Dragonm-oon!" he rasped. "I-I'm c-oming with yo-u!" he called, unsheathing his claws and scrambling to his feet. He could barely breath, before he collapsed. He tried again, limping towards camp.

Russetstar raced after the tom, desperately searching the ground and spotting the hole. He glanced down it, seeing the chilled cats and nodded to Dragonmoon, "It's deep, we'll need to find a long enough stick to get them out." He meowed, glancing around the forest.
