Lynxcloud turned, completely forgetting about Foxpaw. She flicked her tail as a goodbye and padded out, pricking her ears.
"Well, excuse me for helping the medicine cats and their sick apprentice." she growled, wrapping her tail around her half-sister and disappearing out of camp.

Dovepaw waited for her mentors to reply, before vomiting over her paws, and even vomiting out her nose. Her throat burned from all the sick coming out of it.

Dovepaw stopped herself vomiting up again as she swallowed the thrush. It tasted funny in her stomach, a bit like wood.

Batkit got a great idea. "Maybe we could get a fresh one, not cold and soggy! Then maybe it would help! I'll go ask Sandleap to get some!" And with that, Batkit left to get his father. "Can you get a fresh piece of prey for Dovepaw?"

"Okay. I'll be back as soon as possible," Sandleap meowed. He flicked his tail gently aross Batkit's nose and left.

Sandleap returned with a warm and juicy but skinny mouse. "Here, Batkit," he mewed, giving it over.

Batkit smiled and padded silently into the medicine den, making Dovepaw start. He chuckled and then gave the mouse to her. "Here, eat. Sandleap warmed it for you! His chest fur is really really soft..."

Dovepaw laughed a bit, and nibbled at the mouse. "thanks, Batkit. I would give you a lick but I don't want to make you sick." she mewed, swallowing the mouse. It tasted a little better, but more like... a mouse with wood on it.

Batkit heard Dovepaw groaning. He whimpered silently, and felt sad. Dovepaw could end up dying if no one helped her right! He was smaller and could reach into her throat if Dovepaw had something was stuck in her throat, like a dead spider or a hair. Batkit felt as if he had let everyone down. Batkit's whimpered turned into soft, quiet crying.

Hazelflight felt slightly guilty for driving the kit away, but pushed the thought out of her mind. "Okay, Dovepaw, do you think you could answer a few questions? It'll help me figure out what's making you sick." she mewed.

Batkit felt unwanted and horrible. Getting pushed out by itself was horrible, but, by his role model, he felt ruined and broken. Batkit tried not to cry, but couldn't help it.

Seanight finished his prey and glanced at the whimpering Batkit. He crouched down, matching the kits height.
"What's wrong, little guy?" he purred, ruffling Batkit's scruff and trying to cheer him up with funny faces.

Cynderpaw sighed as she woke up and scrambled out of her nest. She left her den and flattened her ears against the snow and drizzling rain, seeing a faint silhouette of Snowstripe in front of the elders den. She padded over, eyes lit with worry and empathy.
"Anything wrong?" she asked softly, flicking her tail.

"When I eat it feels like I'm eating fire, and when it comes up it hurts like that as well. When food is in my belly it tastes like wood." Dovepaw tried to describe as well as she could. "When I'm not eating or being sick, I just have a belly ache."

"well, I could hang out with you! my mentor, nor kitestar, has got me doing anything lately." she mewed.
cynderpaw stretched her legs a little, yawning and looking around camp. she hesitated, then spoke up after clearing her throat.
"errrr, could you tell me a story?" the feline begged, lashing her tail in excitement as she stood below her feet, looking up at snowstripe with eager eyes.

Snowstripe glanced down at Cynderpaw with a slight smile. She shrugged.
"Sure, I guess!" she meowed.
"I could tell you a story about how me and my old friends got stuck in a cave-in during the leaf-bare." she suggested, already turning and leading the way into her den.

IC: "Hmm, well for now I'll just give you some juniper. It helps with bellyaches and doesn't have any bad side effects if you have it when you shouldn't." Hazelflgiht mewed. She grabbed a leaf with a few of the dark berries on it and gave it to Dovepaw.

Batkit lightened up a bit. "Thank," he mewed quietly. He crouched down in the medicine den and didn't make a single sound. Batkit was much happier and proud, as his role model let him watch. He was 5 moons now, and old enough to not whine. Batkit silently scolded himself for crying.
