DuskClan Rocky Cliffs

Taking up most of the southern third of the territory and stretching for longer than the cats have marked their borders, the Rocky Cliffs of DuskClan are the highest point in their territory.
It is mostly made of limestone and schist, a crumbling rock, with similar tussock grass to the stuff growing on the Cloud Hills, however there is not really any unique plants or animals up here. Birds nest on the ground but only in the spring time, and it is a lifeless place except by the large stream, where much softer grass and even some moss grows when it isn't frozen solid. Larger animals such as deer and wild horses sometimes graze and make their way down to the Cloud Hills but other than that, rabbits are the main prey.

Hawkpaw trotted along the riverside, watching as a lizard scrambled into a crack in the cliffside as he disturbed its resting spot.

Riverswoop saw the lizard, shaking his head. "FireClan eat those sometimes. I can't see why," he explained to Hawkpaw.

"They look like weird land-fish." he pointed out, not looking at the warrior and instead battering at the hole where it had disappeared. He finally fit his paw on and scooped it out. The lizard lay limp. "Maybe we should give it a try? There isn't much food around and my belly keeps hurting."

Riverswoop crinkled his nose. "I mean, you're welcome to take it back to camp. I'm gonna try and hunt out rabbit."

"I'm sure the elders will love it." Hawkpaw muttered, imagining the fit Blueshine would throw. He scraped a bit of sand over the lizard, confident nothing would steal it, and trotted away to find something a little bigger.

Riverswoop padded around for a little, climbing up the rocky slopes and up on to the bare moors, the wind immediately buffeting at his already chilled fur. He opened his mouth to let any scents wash over him, then gulped as the scent of rotting crowfood bathed his tongue. "Oh no..."

"What is it?" Hawkpaw called, stopping his harassment of an angry gopher and running to the warrior's side. His nose wrinkled in disgust at the scent. "Eugh. Something take an unlucky fall last moon?"

Riverswoop tried not to gag as he scented the dead rabbit. "The snow's washed off any definable scents, but a cat definitely killed this," he determined, his tail fluffing out.

Hawkpaw went to examine it, trying to breath through his mouth to escape the smell. He reconciled as he spotted its innards spilled on the ground from a gigantic gash. "Must have been a pretty fox-hearted cat. SoulClan, the poor creature doesn't have any other major wounds, looks like this is how it died... must've been painful."

Dovefrost bounded over to where Riverswoop was making a commotion about something. "What happened?" She asked curiously, peering over Riverswoop.

Riverswoop jumped a little in surprise. "We found some crowfood. Killed by a cat," he added with a grumble in his voice.

Dovefrost only frowned in response, staring at the food with disgust and a slight bit of anger shown in her eyes. "Who could it have been? Do you think it was a clan cat...?" She meowed, scenting in the air with her jaws wide open.

Gingerpatch bounded over to her patrol, gagging at the sudden smell of crowfood. "Again?" she mewed, flattening her ears. She bent down to smell it closer, but failed to find any scent of cat, whether it be Clan or rogue.

Honeyflight flinched back in disgust as she saw the rabbit. " Whatever cat did this has some nerve!" She hissed quietly, lashing her tail in frustration.

Riverswoop growled a little. "I bet the other Clans had something to do with this. They've accused BrightClan of stealing, it's only a matter of time before they frame us too." He shook his head. "Let's hunt then head back to camp."

Gingerpatch nodded and dropped down into the hunters crouch, spotting a small rodent scuttling between a cranny in the rocks. She prowled slowly towards her prey, and leaped before it could get it away. She snapped it's neck and quickly buried it to retrieve later. She padded over to Riverswoop with a sigh. "Are you worried there might be a battle between the Clans? Because I certainly am." she flattened her ears, casting a glance back at the crowfood.

Riverswoop nodded, trying not to speak too loudly. "I'm torn. They've accused BrightClan of stealing prey, but I don't think it would be long before they start framing us too of stealing prey." He flicked his tail. "I wouldn't be surprised if that rabbit was some sort of joke from FrostClan."

Gingerpatch nodded slowly. "Should-should we get them back?" she stammered, wondering if what she had suggested was really the best idea. "Then again, it would just cause this battle I'm worrying about." she conflicted with herself, chuckling a little.

Riverswoop shook his head. "That's for Russetstar to decide," he nodded, then scented the air, his eyes widening. "I smell rabbit. Fresh rabbit!" He immediately crouched down, glancing around until his eyes locked on the group of three white-furred creatures sniffing around on the top of the frozen-over ice.

Gingerpatch was instantly hit with the scent of lemming, and found one scrambling up a hot boulder. She turned the opposite way of Riverswoop and lashed her tail, risking it to immediately pounce at the rodent. Luck hit her and she caught the lemming in her claws, biting down on it's body to finish it off.

Hawkpaw spotted the rabbits and turned to Riverswoop, then raced onto the other side of the frozen stream, swiftly turning back towards them and running them to the two warriors.

Riverswoop darted off towards one of them, who appeared to have a deformed leg and was rather skinny. He sprinted through the snow, kicking the powder up, but fumbled at the last second and let out a yowl as his paw hit a hidden rock, tripping him up and sending him flying.

Hawkpaw skidded to a halt as the warrior tripped and the rabbit swerved, then launched himself at the scrawny rabbit. He held the rabbit down, ignoring the squealing as he cut off its airway. When the rabbit went limp, he let go and trotted towards Riverswoop. "Are you okay?" he asked.

Riverswoop hissed gently as he stood, lifting his front right paw. "It's just bruised, I think. I'll be okay." He tried to put weight on it and winced.

Dovefrost narrowed her eyes in worry as she rushed over to Riverswoop. "One of us should carry him back..." She meowed, glancing around and expecting someone to volunteer.

Riverswoop shook his head. "I'm okay, I'll walk. Um...don't trip on any more rocks," he suggested weakly. "Keep hunting, the Clan needs food."

Gingerpatch hurried over to the fellow warrior. She overheard the conversation and shook her head. "Me or Dovefrost could help you back to camp." she suggested, however had a firm voice and would not let Riverswoop say no.

Gingerpatch yelped as a hailstone landed next to her. She chuckled, hiding embarrassment of her nearly jumping out of her fur. Instead, she dropped down into the hunter's crouch and waited for the scent of prey to hit her.

Riverswoop nodded. "I'm not risking any of you lot getting knocked out by a hailstone," he raised his voice as he spoke, the hailstones shattering and thumping almost drowning his voice out.

Dovefrost nodded in agreement as she didn't wait for anymore speculating, darting ahead of the rest with her fur spiked up in irritation of the sudden hailstorm.

Smokeheart nearly gasped in happy surprise at the bird. He kept his eyes on it, wondering if he should attack now or ask Tawnysky for an idea. “How should we get it?” He whispered.
