DuskClan | Southern Territory: Rocky Cliffs Empty DuskClan | Southern Territory: Rocky Cliffs

Sun Sep 15, 2019 4:00 pm
Taking up most of the southern third of the territory and stretching for longer than the cats have marked their borders, the Rocky Cliffs of DuskClan are the highest point in their territory.
It is mostly made of limestone and schist, a crumbling rock, with similar tussock grass to the stuff growing on the Cloud Hills, however there is not really any unique plants or animals up here. Birds nest on the ground but only in the spring time, and it is a lifeless place except by the large stream, where much softer grass and even some moss grows when it isn't frozen solid. Larger animals such as deer and wild horses sometimes graze and make their way down to the Cloud Hills but other than that, rabbits are the main prey.

Bramblepaw sniffed the air, sharp eyes glancing around to search for prey. "The rabbits must be hiding tonight," he commented softly to Hawksky, padding forwards delicately and glancing around for any type of prey. "I need to work on my searching anyways."

Palesmoke padded slowly by Hawksky, twitching her tail-tip. "He's not wrong," she mewed to Bramblepaw, slipping into a crouch as she picked up on the scent of a shrew. The sandy tabby crept quietly along the ground, amber eyes trained onto the small creature, and she struck at her first chance, pinning it beneath her paw before killing it.

Blizzardpaw stayed silent as they trekked along the rocky cliffs. Her pawsteps maintained quiet and light as her ears twitched this way and that, hoping to catch any scuttling sounds that would mean prey. I need to get better at hunting, and night-hunting is a great way to practice, She thought to herself; her blue eyes wide in the dark as they searched the area. She halted, careful not to interrupt Palesmoke's find. "Good catch!," She murmured in admiration by the older, and experienced she-cat's swift movements.
"FireClan cats must have the best eyes of the clans if they can hunt so well past sun-down like this, especially when the moon isn't as bright," She remarked in a hushed whisper, although a bit disappointed she didn't have the same skill-set. The white and tabby she-cat glanced upwards, taking into detail on how mesmerizing the full-moon looked, glad the light was there to assist them.

Bramblepaw glanced at Palesmoke's catch, ears pricking in admiration. He could hear the scuttling sound of claws behind him. He turned around as quietly as he could, unsheathed his long claws and locked his eyes on his target. A fat vole was nibbling on something in its paws, just a leap away. Bramblepaw crouched, unsheathing his long claws, before jumping on his prey. He was an inch off, but one of his claws snagged its fur. He held his catch proudly. First try? Hope it's not just dumb luck.

Hawksky crept along the crumbling walls, stepping carefully as not to disturb rock or twig. He spotted a flicker of movement along the rock as a shrew scurried from its burrow and onto the ground, its long nose searching for insects along the tussocky grass. He lowered his body, creeping forward, then lunged at the shrew, catching it between his claws.

Blizzardpaw bounded up a more narrow path, realizing she better catch something soon instead of being lost in her own thoughts. The path was a good place to catch prey, due to the fact the prey had less open space to escape to. She sniffed around, and with luck caught the scent of a lingering vole. Crouching down, her belly and tail low, she stalked it with light pawsteps. After a few seconds, she pounced,  snagging her outstretched claws onto the vole's fur before landing a killing blow. Picking it up, she huffed at her own clumsiness. That was too close to losing it... She scolded herself.

Palesmoke blinked slowly while watching Bramblepaw and Blizzardpaw hunt. She swayed her stripes tail, and set the shrew she'd caught down. "Good job, you two," she mewed quietly, then scented the air, ears twitching while she listened for the sound of scuttling, tiny feet.

Bramblepaw's eyes glistened at the praise, but he said nothing. He set his catch down next to Palesmoke's, before bumbling off again to find more prey.
It took him about five minutes to realise that he was much further from everyone else. The dark was eerily silent, making his skin prickle with anxiety. The sound of hooves made him jump to turn around. A small deer was grazing on some grass, but it was enough to scare him away.
He ran backward, stumbling and tripping over his paws, rolling his foot painfully. He let out a quiet yelp, dropping into a sitting position and feeling the agony burn at his ankle.

As Bramblepaw sat alone, paw aching painfully and the very earth beneath him trembling like a kit in leafbare, he knew that this was how he was going to die. "Hawksky? Palesmoke...? Anyone?!" his normal stoic demeanor was replaced with one laced with pure terror. He was in too much pain to move without help.

Crowtail followed Scorchthicket close behind. The black-furred tom's senses were all on high alert; his ears were perked, and his jaws were open, scenting the area for any sign of the two cats. "All I smell is dirt and stone," He meowed, taking a moment to stop and scan the area, "There's so many openings in the ground..." Crowtail's fur stood on end, his mind wandering to the possibility of Hawksky and Bramblepaw falling into one of the wide cracks.

Adderfang padded behind Crowtail, his fur standing on end. He craned his neck and took in a few deep breaths, however catching none of his Clanmates scents. He was terrified, and cold, and he just wanted to go curl up in his den next to Softecho. His mind wandered as he continued to walk alongside the ravine, eyes widening at the chasms that had opened up for as far as he could see. "Hawksky?" he shouted, mimicking Scorchthicket's booming voice. "Bramblepaw? Are you alright?" he refrained from yelling any longer, afraid the deputy would hear his shaky, horrified voice.

ooc; just after bramblepaw asked about camp before the other cats came, he was hit very harshly in the shoulder with a large falling rock that sent him to the ground. when he fell, his head hit the ground hard enough to put him on the verge of unconsciousness

Hawksky's voice made Bramblepaw lean further into his hunting partner. He groaned in pain, feeling remnants of blood leaking down his shoulder. A migraine was building in his head after he fell. Black was spotting his vision and Hawksky was yelling, but the voice seemed far away. "H-Hawksky..." his voice sounded like he was underwater as his mind fogged. "I-It hurts..."
