Blanche eyes widened a bit. "You poor thing! Kits shouldn't make decisions that might lead them down the wrong path. I'm so sorry Bella. Wait... Why were you taking care of a kit?" She blinked before a knowing look came across her face. " Is that who Sparrowkit and Shadowkit are? That must be hard..."

Littlelily sighed. "Flintkits mother wasn't taking care of him and he felt lost so I started taking care of him."

Littlelily turned her head suddenly. "Fighting? ROGUES!" She turned and looked at Blanche. "Come on!"

Foresthowl went to reply but flinched as lightning crackled across the sky, his mouth agape. “Uh, we should get inside the Wood Nest,” he mewed just as the clouds began to empty their load.

Hollyblaze nodded and padded inside before wincing at a sudden sharp kick to her side, a cry escaping her. She made it a few more steps before collapsing, groaning in agony.

"Really? I didn't think you were expecting so soon!" Foresthowl immediately helped her to her paws, finding a sheltered spot where it seemed some of the internal wall of the nest had caved in. The ground was soft with moss, and he set his mate down with a lick to her ears. "Okay, right. It'll be okay."

Hollyblaze simply hissed in response only to screech from a sudden, large pain in her belly. "Get a damn stick," she snapped at Foresthowl, and immediately felt bad for snapping. She wasn't angry with him, it just hurt.

Foresthowl licked her ear before ducking out of the sheltered spot, the boom of thunder echoing around him but no longer on his mind. He found a thick, short stick that he thought would be perfect, bringing it back to his mate. "Do you need any water?" he asked.

Hollyblaze nodded sharply and bit down on the stick, digging her long claws into the soft moss beneath her. Her icy eyes watered and she whimpered fearfully, heaving with her ragged breaths.

Foresthowl touched her stomach gently as he’d seen the medicine cats do once before, shivering slightly as he felt the ripple of pain. “You’ll be okay,” he repeated calmly, licking her ear again.

Hollyblaze leaned into the warmth he provided only to yelp from the bolt of agony that shot through her belly. She groaned and pushed on instinct, a soft, tortoiseshell shekit being born moments later.

Foresthowl immediately began licking the tiny kit, aware of how delicate her life already was. Once she took a breath he refocused on Hollyblaze, purring loudly.

Hollyblaze continued on with the process until five, small kits were born, but one of them, a small, silver tabby tom wasn't suckling like the other four. She leaned down and licked his head, flattening her ears. "Foresthowl, he's not breathing," she cried and nudged her son's small body closer to her belly. His fur was already cooling and she sobbed, startling her living kits in the process. With a trembling voice she whispered, "You'll be named Tranquilkit for your peaceful and calm sleep. SoulClan protect him." She groomed his fur back and picked his small body up by the scruff, setting him by her paws and resting her head on his back lightly while she cried.

Hollyblaze looked towards her mate, her vision blurry with tears. She used a paw to push Tranquilkit closer to her chest fur. "We have to get them back to camp, I know. I'll keep them warm, will you go get some warriors to help? Please?" She mewed, knowing the two of them wouldn't be able to carry all four kits back. "We need to bury Tranquilkit.." she muttered.

One of them, a small tabby, let out a sharp whine.

Hollyblaze startled at the whine and used her tail to push her kits close to her belly, placing her tail over them to make sure they were warm. "I'm not going to let any of them get cold," she muttered and laid her head down.

Hollyblaze swallowed thickly and nodded, moving her tail slightly so Foresthowl could see which ones she was speaking of. "The tabby tom that whined, he'll be named Twilightkit, since he's darker colored like one. The small tortoiseshell shecat will be named Hopekit, as she was the first one born. The black, white, and ginger shekit will be named Dreamkit, and the last one will be named Opossumkit for their possum colored pelt." She covered the kits again and looked to him. "What do you think?"

Waking near the trail, Ivyfeather sniffed, her expression disappointed and upset. “If we are lucky.” She started, turning to face the warriors. “We might even find a trace of any herb.” She said grumpily.

“Then why’d we come out here if everything’s dead. There is absolutely no use.” Cloudheart spat back, straight to the point as usual. Her face was still, no emotion, not even a hint of annoyance. Cloudheart sat on the trail, swiftly looking back. “Do we need anything else here then?” The She-Cat tilted and rolled her eyes. Why am I here if there was no point? Ivyfeather surely knows you most likely can’t find herbs, or anything, in Leaf-Bare her thoughts quickly drowned out, as she looked back at Ivyfeather.

"Rrggh," Brindlefrost growled in annoyance, trotting further ahead of Ivyfeather and Cloudheart. She pressed her nose to the thin layer of snow that coated the ground, occasionally uncovering the dirt with a paw only to find dead or withered plants that could serve no purpose.

Ivyfeather ducked under a bush that had been partly raided with the snowfall, and pulled out some half-withered marigold flowers. “This isn’t much, but it will be enough for a cat or two to heal up from the last battle.” She remarked. “We need some catmint too.”
