FrostClan Twoleg Trails and Wood Nest

Throughout their territory FrostClan has had to cope for many seasons of Twolegs bumbling their way along very obvious paths in the warmer seasons. The Wood Nest is located near to the Woodpile, and strangely there is catmint and a few rarer herbs growing in a garden beside it.
Cats can get inside the Wood Nest but they are warned against it from the moment they become apprentices, as the mice are good hunting but the rats aren't worth the hassle.

Lynxfang came to the edge of one of the trails, opening his mouth to scent. After no changes for a half minute, he sat down and turned to Fennelpaw. "Have you heard of Twolegs?"

"'Course I heard of twolegs!" he snapped, "Are there any around here? I could probably chase them off if I tried hard enough."

Lynxfang snorted. "Not these ones, kit. When I was a kit a few of my denmates snuck out one night..." He neglected to mention that he was part of the group. "...and only one of them came back, shouting about Twolegs taking them."

"Sorry to hear about that." Fennelpaw muttered, "But I think I'll be fine. Me, Owlpaw, and Crowpaw all came from the twolegplace. I know how to avoid those things."

Lynxfang nodded. "That's good. Did you learn anything else from the Twolegplace?" he asked suddenly, curious.

Lynxfang nodded seriously. "I've never been into the Twolegplace. Maybe I'll see if I can go with the medicine cats the next time they need catmint," he thought aloud, then shook himself. "Follow me." He started walking up the path towards the Wood Nest.

"I-okay." he mewed nervously, following slowly to the nest. "You're, uh, not missing much. It's mostly just starving rogues and dogs with a few rats here and there."

"Why are we going closer? Is there prey or something?" Fennelpaw mewed nervously.

"I'm going to show you things only a few advanced apprentices learn," Lynxfang explained as they arrived at the den. "And we need somewhere where nobody else will see them."

"...Alright." Fennelpaw gulped, determined not to seem cowardly. I've chased off dogs before, I've even knocked out a rogue or two! I'll be fine.

Fennelpaw froze, taken aback. Images flashed through his head of the rogues attacking. "T-that makes sense, I guess." he mewed, his heart beating furiously.

Lynxfang nodded. "They normally don't teach apprentices that. Most of them would use it for bad things. But I trust you to not use it unless absolutely necessary. Right?"

Fennelpaw flexed his claws, which scraped against the stone underneath them. "Pretty sharp." he muttered.

Aren't we not supposed to keep our claws out during training? No, this is special training, I need to become tougher. Fennelpaw leaped toward Lynxfang's chest, claws outstretched.

Lynxfang batted him to the side easily, letting his claws slip out only a little to show how easily he could've clawed his apprentice's head. "Don't make it so easy this time."

Lynxfang barely blinked, doing the same thing to Fennelpaw but keeping his eye out for the telltale signs of his muscles bunching.

Maybe I can confuse him? Fennelpaw thought, thinking back to previous fights. Fennelpaw crouched on the ground, hit ears flattened.

Lynxfang flicked the apprentice's ear. "Cheer up. There'll always be more training to do and more battles to fight." He padded off, keeping himself low so that the crust from the snow didn't crack beneath him, following the scent of bird.

Fennelpaw nodded. There haven't been any battles since I got here. Are they common? He wanted to ask, but decided to hold his tongue and look for some prey. He spotted a squirrel in the tree overhead, chattering angrily.

Fennelpaw nodded then looked up at the bird. He started slinking toward the tree, ready to make a ruckus to scare it down if needed.

Lynxfang crouched, even though his pelt was dark against the snow almost seeming to melt into the shadows. He simply waited for Fennelpaw to scare the prey down.

OOC: it would be bad if....something....happened...wouldn't it?

IC: Fennelpaw clambered up the tree until he was above the squirrel the leaped down toward it. The squirrel chattered with fear and leaped down onto the ground.

Ic: Lynxfang pounced from his spot, hind paws slipping slightly and making his land awkward, but he managed to snap his claws out into the squirrel's tail.
