"I will do no such thing," Skypaw retorted stubbornly. "She's the older one, she should know better. Let's just go back to the damn camp so I can care to the elders. I have words for Russetstar," she hissed and padded towards camp.

Scarletpetal simply stayed where she was, picking twigs out of her fur and her head throbbing from what happened. She hissed as one was tangled on her long fur, so she used her claws to try and cut some of the fur off that was tangled with the twig. When she was finished, she sat down and took in her surroundings, trying to calm herself down.

Creampaw looked between her sister and Nightfrost, settling on staying by him. She didn't want to be on the receiving end of her sister's temper. "Nightfrost, Skypaw just needs a few minutes to calm down," she mewed quietly.

"Nightfrost please," Creampaw begged, tail-tip twitching nervously. She watched Skypaw sit about seven tail lengths away, having moved slightly closer but still not quite next to them. "She's not walking away anymore, just sitting," she mewed, ducking her head and flattening her ears.

She nodded and sheathed her claws, purring at him lightly and giving him a small lick on his cheek. She then made her way back to camp, feeling guilty and upset now rather than angry.

Skypaw focused on her paws, ignoring the warriors and simply padding slightly behind Creampaw. She muttered beneath her breath, flexing her claws every now and then.

Scarletpetal whipped her head around at the voice and then relaxed as she smelt a familiar scent. “Goldpaw, is everyone else on the patrol with you?” She asked the apprentice, chuckling at her excitement.

Nightfrost padded out from the shade of the trees, stretching a little as the chilly rain started pattering on the canopy of branches above the trio. “By the looks of things, you’ll get to explore it in snow.” He looked up just as a white flake landed on his nose, making his whiskers twitch.

“There you are. I wasn’t sure if you had followed me.” Scarletpetal purred at Nighfrost, sticking her tongue at him as he did to her previously. She stood there, not feeling cold but her pelt getting covered in flakes of snow.

“It’s so cool looking!” He said and leaped up at a single flake, trying to catch it. He helped in surprise when he figured out how cold and wet it was.

Scarletpetal purred in amusement at the young tom, remembering her first as well with seeing snow. She shook her fur out, spraying tiny droplets of water. “The very first time i saw snow, i was a few moons into my apprenticeship and my mentor had told me how cold it would get in the territories but i never believed him.” She mewed, lost in thought. “Until i snuck out once behind his back and ended up getting lost in our own territory because the snow had covered the area.” She chuckled, remembering her punishment for leaving unsupervised. “Was your father ever harsh on you as he was with me at times?” Scarletpetal asked, Nightfrost, curiously.

Goldpaw leaped at a swirl of flakes, sorting his pelt with white. He tried to shake them off but only got more flakes.

Nightfrost purred at the apprentice but froze as a twig snapped, echoing around the clearing. He motioned with his tail, looking around slowly until the robin at the side of the clearing jumped into view, pecking at the hard ground.

Scarletpetal had froze still as well, knowing her bright orange pelt would stick out. She mentally cursed herself for having a bright pelt color, but stalked toward the bird anyway. She kept her paws as light as possible and once she was close enough, she pounced at the bird. She landed on it, her claws digging into it as she bit down and snapped its neck. She purred as she brought it back to them, her tail flicking happily.

The sound of a falling leaf startled her, and she nearly jumped out of her skin whirling to find the source. The vole scrambled towards its hollow.

Scarletpetal gave a nod to Nightfrost as she set her prey down, glancing to Shadowblaze. “Should we each try to catch two pieces of prey? So there’s enough for the queens and elders?” Scarletpetal suggested, not too much of a hunter but enjoying the exercise.
