The Hidden Lake||The Cliffs

The Cliffs surround this lake area and block a lot of wind and rain from entering; positively, it also blocks many other animals from trying to get in, however, it also traps animals in, unless they are hardy and can climb. The rocks are pocketed with holes and small tunnels, the largest of which near the bottom has been cleared to be used as a den for all of Nova’s group, and occasionally birds can be hunted from this area. Trails used by Twolegs and horses are the only way in and out of the area.

Velvet glanced up as she saw Flare returning to his nest, shaking her head a little and trying to settle down once more. Nova just tucked his head a little closer to his mate's warm body.

Lilac lay inside a cave, watching the rain outside and not daring to fall asleep. Her thoughts had been odd all day, and she feared what her dreams would bring her.

Peony sat perched upon a flat grey boulder. Her gaze flickered over the land below, and let the bright moonlight engulf her. She carefully wrapped her tail over her eyes and dug her claws into a bundle of moss growing on the side of the rock.

Indigo padded over to Lilac, a magpie hanging from her jaws. "Care for a moonhigh snack?" she mewed, ears swiveling towards the entrance of the cave to hear the pitter-patter of wet snow against the ground.

Lilac smiled to her sister. "Yes! Thank you." she chirped. She sniffed the bird and tentatively took a bite.

"It's pretty dangerous at this time, too," Indigo flattened her ears. "Anyone could easily slip." she growled and shook out her fur, sending rain droplets flying everywhere.

Indigo tossed her head back at the sound of Nova's voice. "We'll be quieter." she meowed, with sarcasm edging her tone. She bent down and took another large bite out of the magpie.

Lilac flattened her ears at Nova but said nothing, placing her head on the cold, rough rock. Kill her. No? Don't? I'm annoyed with her for telling me to quiet down she didn't try to kill me or anything.

"Right," she meowed bitterly. Without wating for Lilac to follow, Indigo padded out of the den and got into the hunters crouch when she spotted a mouse scurrying through the snow.

Lilac rose off the ground, her eyes heavy, and plodded after her sister. She yawned and nearly slipped off a rock over the edge, righting herself at last moment.

Indigo wiggled her haunches and leaped at the thin mouse, sinking her teeth into it's neck. She brought it back to the cave and tossed it over the other pieces of prey near the back of the den. She trotted back out beside Lilac with a purr. "Catch anything yet?"

Velvet gritted her teeth and Nova frowned. "Is it the kits?" he asked softly, expecting a 'no' reply but instead, Velvet nodded and shifted uncomfortably.

"Ah, tough luck," Indigo curled her lip, revealing sharp white teeth. "I found a few mice, but they couldn't even fill a kit up." she snorted, shivering as a cold wind swept over the clearing.

Peony nodded to Lilac and ran outside the cave for a quick moment. She hurried back inside with a thick branch and placed it in Velvet's paws. "Put that between your teeth, it should help the pain." she instructed calmly, although on the inside she was very worried about how the kitting would go.

Peony breathed heavily and rushed into the back of the den, where Nova kept a few herbs lying around for safety. She snatched some raspberry leaves and hurried back to Velvet. She chewed them into a pulp and gently fed them to the soon-to-be-mother. "This will ease the pain as well, and once they're delivered it will stop the bleeding more efficiently." she meowed.

OOC: I'm not even sure I used this herb right hahaha are you supposed to chew it or apply it?

ic: Velvet ate the leaves, gritting her teeth and picking up the stick to bite down as another pain rippled through her belly.

Nova gulped and stepped away, his tail flicking and trying not to panic.

Peony put her paw gently over Velvet's stomach and carefully massaging it. "I'm not entirely sure how many kits there'll be," she mewed. "But I'm almost sure they'll be a healthy litter."

Velvet relaxed a little and instinctively pushed, feeling a slight pressure release as the first kit was born. She gasped a little, still biting down on the stick.

Lilac trotted back into the cave, fresh water from a nearby stream dripping off the moss in her jaws.

The second and third kits were born without much hassle, but the fourth seemed to be causing Velvet a little trouble. The stick splintered in her jaw as she cried out in pain, causing Nova to start pacing impatiently, his fur bristled like he was about to attack.

Pandora grinned at the sight of her mother, and quickly batted at her nose as she was stooped down to her level. At the sound of one of her brothers, she became more curious to see the rest of her litter and made her way over to where white tom was. "Hi!" She purred, trying to get a look at his face, however his paws were covering it.
