FireClan Meadow

FireClan's Meadow is one of a few large clearings in the Clan's forest area, but is by far the largest and the grassiest. Many superstitions accompany this area, mostly passed down by stories told to kits as the elders, leading to apprentices refusing to hunt here until they know it is safe.
Down slightly lower than the rest of the clearings the Meadow is unique as it always seems to attract the most attention from intruders such as badgers and foxes. It has to be patrolled regularly, as animals often try to move in here without permission.
The long grass is a good place to hunt ground mammals such as mice and voles, but it also is home to many ground-nesting birds and will often hide a rabbit or two as well.

Walnutsplash cautiously entered the meadow, sniffing the air for any dangers. All he scented was a thrush and a vole. He stalked through the grass, aiming for the thrush. With a powerful leap, he landed a mouse-length next to the thrush. It uttered an alarm call, spreading its wings, but Walnutsplash swiped his paw down and snapped its neck. Thanking SoulClan for the prey, he grabbed it in his jaws and found a place to bury it while he scouted for the mouse.

Sparkfeather led the way in, holding her tail up for silence. She sniffed the air. She stalked forward and neatly pounced on a mouse

OOC: Can I just spoof Walnutsplash out? BTW @Aquatail626 there have been too many wild animal attacks lately. Jaywing told us not to stray from the plot, so I think it's best everybody just stop all of the random drama.

IC: Walnutsplash dashed off, snatching his rabbit in his jaws, and going back to camp.

Nightpelt joined the patrol, waiting for Bramblepaw to catch up. He opened his jaws to scent the air for any prey nearby and perked his ears for any scufflings noises of animals. Squirrel. He thought as he scented the strong scent of the nearby animal.

OOC: I was not upset, I was just correcting you. And please add more to your posts. Even though you don't know anything about the plot, It still doesn't mean you can just randomly start dramatic things in the rp.

Nightpelt nodded towards Sparkfeather, "I hope it doesn't return though, that would be a pawful." He meowed. Quickly, he returned to stalking the squirrel, hoping it was still there. He got into his hunting crouch and started inching forward.

Sparkfeather saw a thrush. She stalked it in perfect formation. When she was close enough, she pounced. The thrush started to fly away but Sparkfeather leaped at it, catching it and bitting its neck

Darkpaw froze as he saw the vole. He crouched down and edged closer, when he was about a tail length away he sprang, landing on the vole and giving it the killing bite.

Nightpelt nodded to Sparkfeather, "Great catch, I see you've gotten better since the days I've trained you." He meowed with a purr. He stalked forwards and pounced onto the squirrel, nipping it's neck for the killing bite and got up to bury it for the time being.

" nice catch, Nightpelt." Darkpaw purred, then picked up his vole. He dug a hole then dropped the vole in, then covered it quickly. He opened his mouth to find more prey.

Bramblepaw scented the air. He smelled nothing, and said disappointedly " I think we hunted this part clean, can we move farther away from this spot?"

Nightpelt shook his head, "I think we should all go back to camp. This storm cloud above is going to get worse any time now." He meowed, narrowing his eyes at the cloud, rain already dripping down.

Nightpelt didn't catch the glance his apprentice gave to Darkpaw, and instead of cheering Bramblepaw up he nodded to Darkpaw, "Nice catch." He complimented, shaking off droplets of rain that had already started to fall on them.

Milkweed shivered in the small hollow in the roots of a large oak, looking up at the entrance. "B-Barley?" she whispered, nudging her brother. "M-Mom hasn't come back."

Barley frowned, a million thoughts rushing through his head. He pushed himself to his paws and slowly padded onto the grass, turning his head to and fro. "She's not here!" he cried.

Milkweed followed, sniffing deeply. "I...I think she went this way?" She frowned, smelling her comforting scent on the ground.

Barley immediately jerked his head forward to his mothers warm scent. "Come on!" he squeaked, bounding through the long grass. As he skidded to a halt in the middle of the meadow, he had lost his mothers scent. He let his fur lie flat, and he dropped his head to look at his paws with sorrow.

Barley looked at the white stuff layering the ground; something he had only just noticed. He batted at the snow with a paw, eyes glinted with curiosity. "Where did it come from?" he tilted his head, seeing that more of it was beginning to slowly fall from the sky.

Barley squeaked when the cold snowball hit him, shivering as it melted into his already freezing fur. "Hey!" he growled playfully, scooping up a chunk with his claws and chucking it at Milkweed.

Barley nodded his head in agreement slowly, but inside he wanted to - no, needed to - find his mother again. He carefully stepped through the snow and back towards the hollow he and Milkweed had slept in. "But what will we do until she comes back?" he asked, doubting that his mother would ever come back.

Barley clenched his teeth as a bitter-cold air swept over the den. "But I'm not tired," he protested, although there was no emotion in his voice. "Can we play a game?" he suggested hopefully.

Barley purred and jumped out of their makeshift den, setting snow flying behind his paws. He scooped up some snow and piled it over a bundle of ice. He sneaked up behind Milkweed and shot a cold lump of snow at her back, giggling.

Milkweed squeaked loudly and shoved more snow back at Barley, giggling and falling into a pile.

Acornwhisker reached the Meadow just before Redstar, panting and shaking the snow from her fur. "Slowpoke," she teased, purring.

Redstar skidded to a halt, sending a shower of snow behind her. "What can I say? It's genes." she purred, opening her jaws to taste the air. She caught the faint scent of other cats. Her neck fur rose and she flattened her ears. "Someone not of this Clan is here." she meowed with hostility.

Barley crouched beneath his fort, giggling when Milkweed hit him. He jumped up to throw another lump at her, but quickly ducked behind the snow again when he saw Acornwhisker and Redstar. "Uh-oh.." he muttered, hoping they wouldn't notice him and his sister.

Milkweed didn't notice Barley's change in mood and threw more snow at him, giggling.

Acornwhisker scented the air with her eyes narrowed, then was taken aback. "It...I smell kits."

Barley kept his eyes glued on the two Clan cats, ignoring Milkweed when she kept throwing snow.

Redstar curled her lip, revealing sharp white teeth. "Whose kits would be this close to FireClan camp?" she meowed through gritted teeth.
