Ebonyfur sprang away from where Rainfall was in shock and stared at Tanglepaw in bewilderment, "Well, I didn't know you were half squirrel!" She laughed, however was distracted and slipped from one of Rosepaw's attacks.

Tanglepaw purred with satisfaction, getting off of the squashed Rainfall and stretching. "Well, that was fun." He then stiffened, his eyes wide. "I smell rogue!"

Ebonyfur's spine tingled in sudden fear, leaving behind her pride of her apprentice and remembering the elder's tales of the murderous cats. "Rosepaw, Tanglepaw, stay behind us." She warned, opening her jaws and scenting the air.

OOC: little did they know a "murderous rogue" would come out as a smol marshmallow

Ebonyfur stared at the rustling bushes and unsheathed her claws, "Whoever is hiding, you better come out now. You're intruding on Waterclan territory!" She hissed.

Rosepaw looked looked up to glance at Tanglepaw with a shocked expression"Rogue?" She shivered with fear, of maybe it was just the cold? It was leaf-bare and her first one. She could not tell but rogues couldn't be horrible could they? She had been one once and she was fine, to some degree.

A tiny, pitiful mewl could be heard coming from the bushes near the edge of the clearing, and Tanglepaw relaxed a little. "It's a kit."

Ebonyfur sighed in relief and noticed the small kit from inside the bush, a quick pang of sympathy and pity for it ached her heart. "We should bring it back to camp, it doesn't seem like it's in good condition." She meowed.

Rosepaw nodded in agreement to the warrior."Who could leave such a small kit alone, in clan territory! They must've been a horrible mother."she mewed, padding out of the back.

Ebonyfur smiled warmly at the kit, "C'mon, we should hurry up before it gets too dark." She meowed, looking up at the sunset. ((because winter)) She quickly padded forward to the small kit and lowered her head, "Hey, wanna come with us?" She meowed softly.

Ebonyfur gently picked the small kit up by the scruff and nodded in greetings to the two clanmates, she quickly flicked her tail as a signal to start leaving back to camp.

Firepool narrowed his eyes at the strange kit, but quickly turned back to his apprentice and tried ignoring it, Sandstar will take care of the issue... he thought before nodding, "The water isn't too cold, is it?" He questioned, hoping he wouldn't have Leopardpaw catch whitecough, or worse.

"Well, we'll need to test your water battle skills, and a couple land ones as well, but those will be basic of course because we prefer water moves." He explained, then quickly dipped his paws into the river and wading into the shallow parts. "You'll need to battle me first, it'll be a free-style and you can use whatever moves you remember learning."

Firepool nodded before taking the first strike by surprise, not waiting to tell her when they were starting. He quickly hit the water, sending a splash at Leopardpaw's face and then taking a deep breath and diving under water. Using the underwater push-off move, he crouched and pounced towards Leopardpaw, aiming to knock her off balance.

Leopardspots hissed and dove into the water, not letting him knock her off her paws by lifting them off the floor, splashing as messily as possible and surrounding herself in a cloud of bubbles.

OOC: I don't know why, but I imagined Firepool in a "superman" pose as he swims up to try and knock her off balance haha

Firepool couldn't help but grin at the choice of using defense and quickly ducked underneath again, trying to find which direction of Leopardpaw was facing where, but the bubbles seemed to block his view.

Leopardpaw let herself sink under Firepool as the bubbles began to dissipate, planting herself firmly on the sand, then pushing herself towards him.

Firepool felt himself knocked from his belly and was pushed up, although he quickly regained his stance and paddled back over, and finally decided to try a different route. He swam easily to the side, ducked down and popped behind her to pull her under once more.

Leopardpaw yelped, bubbles pouring out of her mouth, then flipped over rapidly to disorient her mentor, feeling herself getting dizzy from it.

As he was flipped over, he did become slightly confused as to where the surface was, although he finally discovered where the water's surface was once more and swam his way up, expecting Leopardpaw to be farther away then she was.

Leopardpaw swam to the surface, sputtering and coughing out water and paddling towards Firepool. "How'd I do?" she called.

Firepool grinned, "I'm not really supposed to tell you know, but to scratch off some of the suspense, you did great." He reassured the shivering apprentice. "Let's get back before we freeze!" He added in with a purr.
