Lilyshadow purred. "Yes. Now, watch the waves. See how they break. Think of waves as a family. There are the mother and father that come first, then the Kits. But see how there is a break before the next set if aves?"

"I see." Otterpaw said, staring out into the sea. He watched the waves and recited Lilyshadow's words in his head.

Lilyshadow nodded. "Each time that the waves come in, they bring larger fish towards the shallows. The best time to get a fish is inbrpetween waves. Watch." She waited, before jumping into the water and swimming out. She dove under and came up with a large fish. She then waited in the water and allowed the waves to push her back. She placed the fish in the beach. "Use your surroundings, now you try."

Otterpaw waited for a moment, then dived into the water. He caught hold of a fish. It wasn't as big as Lilyshadow's but he still grappled it. He hardly felt the other wave taking him back to shore. He stood up and placed his fish on the sand, his eyes gleaming with pride.

Lilyshadow nodded in approval. "As long as you use your surroundings, you will almost always catch a fish."

"I want to try again!" Otterpaw said, leaping into the waves. But as he did, a sharp pain stabbed into his leg. He grabbed the creature that hurt him and threw it on the beach. "Darn crab!" He said, blood trickling from his wound as he wadded back to shore.

Lilyshadow purred. "Salt water on a wound may sting, but it's actually very good for the wound. When I am injured sometimes, I come here and just swim for a bit." She smiled before leaping into the water. She grabbed a fish but got hit by a wave that had appeared out of no where and when she came out she was covered in seaweed.

"Your name should be changed to Seaweedshadow!" Otterpaw said, laughing. He jumped in and ignored the pain in his leg. He allowed the waves to move him around.

Lilyshadow sat by the edge, watching her apprentice, ready to help him if needed. "I really think I should talk to Sandstar about his assessment." She said to herself.

Otterpaw got slapped in the face with a fish and grappled with it. He was still fighting its large tail when the waves set him back on shore.

"Ow!" Otterpaw got hit in the face again and watched as the injured fish got carried away by another wave. "Frog-dung!" He shouted.

"It's all bloody so it's going to have a horrible death." Suddently Otterpaw spotted a gray fin in the water heading towards the bleeding fish. "uh..... Lilyshadow!" He said, racing out of the water but the current pulled him back a bit.

Lilyshadow jumped into the water and grabbed his pelt. She pulled him out but the sighed in laughter and relief. "It's just a dolphin."she laughed. "Dolphins look like sharks but aren't dangerous. But what is one doing all the way out here?"

"No clue." He said as he listened to it's happy chirping noises. He had never seen a dolphin. He had only heard them in elder's tales.

Lilyshadow looked at it but then frowned. "It's hurt." She said, nodding to one of its fins. "Must have been in a fight. But those don't look like bite marks."

"I'm going to check it out." He said, leaping on some rocks close to where the dolphin was. "I can't tell what it is. Do dolphins taste good?" He asked.

Rosepaw carefully leaped from rock to rock, being immediately hit with the strong scent of saltwater. She turned back to make sure Lakemist was following, but couldn't hold in her excitement any longer and darted to the seashore. She gasped, watching the beautiful waves crash against the sand in awe. "Wow! Lakemist, this is beautiful!" she cooed, sticking her paw in the water and quickly drawing it out when she felt a little rock poke her pad.

Lakemist followed her apprentice, now panting as she slowed her pace and Rosepaw darting away. "I need to run more," She muttered to herself, stretching her legs out before joining her apprentice, "Right you are, and the whole of WaterClan is proud of it." The spotted shecat shook her pelt, and continued along the shore. "See if you can find any tidepools," She instructed, her blue eyes searching the rock crevices.

Rosepaw raised her head, breathing in the fresh air. She gagged at the scent of salt water, but it was quickly replenished as she dipped her nose in the perfectly chilly water. She dug up some sand, loving the softness in between her paw pads, and discovered two small crabs snapping their pincers at each other. She giggled, pawing at one of them and receiving a sharp pinch on the paw. Both crabs scuttled away, underneath a crevice. "Wow, Lakemist, this is great! Is it too cold to swim now?" she meowed, peeking her ears as the waves continued to crash gently against the shoreline.
