Kestrelkit, A snapping pine

Appearance:

Kestrelkit is a dark brown tabby. Her main color is a reddish mahogany brown. On her belly it lightens to a creamy brown. Her paws are a shade between the two contrasting colors and it darkens as it rises up her legs until it blends with the mahogany coloring. Her tail goes from the mahogany at the base of her tail to the creamy brown at the tip. The creamy brown encircles his eyes and on her muzzle. Kestrelkit has white on the end of her muzzle and on her chin. It blends into the creamy brown which then blends into the mahogany brown that is her main color. Her stripes stand out beautifully as ink black. She has the M shape on her forehead that marks most tabbies. On the bridge of her nose is a color that is a mix between the black and mahogany and then outlining her nose is black fur. She has stripes coming away from her eyes, but other than that, the M markings are the only stripes on her face. Her ears have two black stripes, one at the base and one at the tip, leaving room for the brown to go in between the two. Kestrelkit’s stripes stand out more prominently on her legs, paws, and tail. The stripes on her back and sides are slightly lighter and let more brown through. Like most tabbies, she has spots on her underside, but they are small so the most dominant color is the creamy brown.

Personality:

Kestrelkit is quiet, cautious, non-trusting, noble, bitter and resourceful.

She is a cat of few words. Not shy, just not vocal. She talks when necessary or when there is something important to say, but prefers not to talk just for the sake of hearing herself speak. She isn’t very likely to participate in small talk, or even hold up her own end of a conversation. She’ll talk, of course, because she can’t just ignore her clan mates, but her efforts will be aimed towards ending whatever conversation she is having, rather than continuing. The end result is that when she does have something to say, it’s usually something important and well thought out. Something worth listening to. That doesn’t mean anyone will be happy hearing it, though, because she isn’t afraid to mince words to protect the sensitivities of her clan mates and those beyond. She doesn’t trust easily. In fact, she hardly trusts at all now. She’s well aware of the distrustful looks in the eyes of her clan mates. It only took a few moons for that same look to be reflected in her own eyes, sharp and angry. How dare they judge their own clan mates? If they can’t trust her or anyone else for doing nothing wrong, how can she trust them? How can she trust another cat in her own clan not to betray her? She wouldn’t put her life in the paws of any cat. She knows she must be the only one in charge of her own destiny, protecting herself, taking care of herself, and ultimately, the only one she can rely on. It is a distrust that drives a wedge between her and her clan mates, preventing her from truly growing close to anyone else in the clan. Sure, she has acquaintances. Sure, she’ll hunt for and protect her clan and take care of the elders as a cat should. But in the end, her unwillingness to put her life in the paws of others, prevents her from truly making friends. One day, she must work to establish a trusting bond with cats in her clan, but she hasn’t managed to do it yet.

History:

there isn’t too much to it. father was tall and dark and handsome, having risen like a phoenix from the ashes of the sickness. mother was in need of help, having lost both of her mentors to an illness. they were both lonely. he offered to help train her so that she could feel good about her skills. as they trained, his mother’s confidence in her abilities grew, but so did something else. after she was at least as good as any other warrior, they would still get together, sometimes to train, but sometimes just to talk. they were falling in love! it wasn’t long after they realized that they became mates, because two cats so sweet and good were so perfect for each other. it was no surprise when Lilypool became pregnant, and after a few moons, Kestrelkit and Ivykit were born. there really is, they’re close, and have been growing up fine, with loving parents and each other.
