Cinderfrost stood up, narrowing her red eyes. "Don't you see that she belongs here, you do too. You can leave if you want but you need to realize that there's things that happen for a reason. You can't stop it no matter how hard you try." She took a step towards him. "If you still want to leave then just go."

Creekpaw was still lying beside Runningblaze. Already her scent was fading, and the Clan was moving on. "Why does it have to happen to us?" he whispered sadly.

Rubyblaze watched as Larkkit cowered in her empty nest, looking around for her brother and Runningblaze. "Come here, little one." she mewed soothingly, and Larkkit padded closer, her eyes wide and shaking slightly. Rubyblaze sat her down next to Bubblekit, who snuggled closer to her, and Larkkit soon drifted off into sleep.

Cinderfrost heard Creekpaw and turned her head. "Like I told Raggedpaw... Things happen for a reason. I wish there was something anyone could do... but it doesn't seem to work that way."

Creekpaw sniffed loudly. "Where's Grasswhispers?" he mewed quietly, padding over to Breezepaw.

Brackenstorm bowed his head. Too many warriors have been lost today. He padded into the nursery, and glanced at Rubyblaze, who moved slightly and revealed Larkkit snuggled close to her flank and breathing quietly. Brackenstorm bowed his head, and Rubyblaze blinked in thanks.

Hailstrike had an idea. "Do you want to help me organise a mass training session?" he mewed to Lightpaw. "Get all the apprentices and the warriors, and we can do something together in the training hollow."
Brackenstorm padded over. "Good thinking, Hailstrike. I'll send a few warriors on a border patrol, then they can meet us there. And seeing as it was your idea, you can run it." the deputy mewed, happy for his son.
