Darkcloud followed Hawkstep quickly, so she wouldn't be eaten more.

Brindlestripe rubbed her cheek against Hawkstep's cheek in pure thanks. "Thanks for saving me," she mewed, blushing.

Hawkstep ran back at picked up Brindlestripe by the scruff, bounding swiftly over the log and crouching down, holding in a cough. A low snarl sliced through the stillness of the clearing.

Brindlestripe widened her eyes. The dog snarled, about to leap. She held in a gasp and a tremble, calming herself. She was safe in the tom's grip, and he would protecf her, she hoped.

The dog was not far now.
"Over here!" Hawkstep bolted towards another clearing where the trees thinned out.
Here they could make up more ground, but so could the dog. He glanced over his shoulder, seeing a blur of tawny fur with drool leaving a trail.

Darkcloud huffed. "I know you were about to be eaten, but I was eaten. A bit of help?" she mewed, pulling herself after Hawkstep.

Brindlestripe almost fell asleep, because of Hawkstep's warmth. She jolted herself awake, now noticing the dog was coming again. She gasped, terrified.

Brindlestripe looked back, hanging from Hawkstep's jaws. She watched helplessly, at Darkcloud, who was getting almost caught by the dogs.

Darkcloud pushed herself up, before starting to race along (well run at a slow pace), on three legs. She looked at Hawkstep with her perfect glare, running from the dogs.

Hawkstep grunted at Darkcloud as he bounded over logs swiftly and reached the clearing of thinned trees. A spider crawled up a fallen tree trunk. A large fallen tree trunk. His eyes lit up and he pushed Brindlestripe and Darkcloud into the tree trunk, squirming in himself last. He winced as they rolled around, and a sharp claw pierced through the top.

Hawkstep heard something move in the distance, and it wasn't the dog. His intensified hearing heard the small pawsteps of an apprentice.
"WINDPAW? IS THAT YOU?" he called, whimpering slightly as the dog pierced a claw through the top of the log and it almost latched on to his neck.

Windpaw ears pricked as she heard an familiar meow. "H-Hawkstep?" She yowled back, padded over, following the voice. "Yeah its me!"

Hawkstep heard her reply and held in a gasp as the pitter-patter of her pawsteps came closer and closer.
"NO! Stay away! The dogs!" he hollered, but it was no use.
A small white dog had managed to wriggle inside and pull the warrior out. He yowled in pain as a bigger brown dog picked him up by the scruff, shook him like a toy, and threw him against a tree trunk.

Brindlestripe yowled in horror. Hawkstep was thrown against the trunk, and Windpaw was cornered. She ran over to Hawkstep, running. Brindlestripe shook him desparately, not wanting him to die. Hawkstep was far too young, in her opinion, to die!

Hawkstep shook his head clear and saw a blurry Brindlestripe, and behind her, Windpaw being cornered by dogs.
"No! Go save her!" he yowled, getting up and leaping at a dog.
When the big black and brown creature wasn't looking, he jumped over its head and scored his claws down its back, but he quickly slid off and limped away to get a stick.

Brindlestripe grabbed Windpaw by the scruff. She put her far into the log, away from the dogs. "I'm coming, Hawkstep!" she yowled, and leapt onto the dog Hawkstep was just fighting.

Hawkstep grabbed a sharp stick and back-flipped swiftly, chucking the stick at the dogs eye. He missed his aim and accidentally threw it right at Brindlestripe's cheek. He winced and ran over, punching the dog, scrabbling under it, and with all his might, throwing it off of her.

Brindlestripe grazed her cheek on the stick. "It's okay!" Sh yowled. The white dog grabbed her by the scruff, shook her, and started to run away. Brindlestripe twisted, struggling for her life.

Suddenly, all the dogs scattered. Hawkstep emerged from behind a sturdy log and scanned the clearing around him. He let out a sigh of relief.
They're gone. he thought to himself, licking down one of Brindlestripe's wounds.
Then, a twig snapped in the distance. As a stampede of the dogs came trampling over them, Hawkstep gaped. The dogs had brought their friends.

Brindlestripe crushed Hawkstep down on the ground. "No!" She shielded Hawkstep, protecting him.

Now! a voice entered his mind as he scurried through the thinned out trees, dragging Brindlestripe, Darkcloud, and Windpaw along with him. After scaring off all the other dogs, the biggest brown one of all was left. He pushed them to the ground as the creature lunged at them from its hiding place. It flew over Hawkstep's flattened body, and into tangled leaves of an elderberry bush.

Brindlestripe leapt on the dog, pushing it further into the bush, entangling it. The dog pulled, and the roots were barely coming out. The dog pulled free, still covered with leaves, dried, dead berries, and twigs. Brindlestripe tried to run, but was snatched by the dog. She pulled, onky getting pinned down. She stopped, the dog looming above her and snarling.

Hawkstep created a distraction and led the dog towards him, and as it lunged again, it was entangled into the roots again. The shaggy dog writhed in the sticky tentacles of the elderberry bush. In minutes it was a tangled mass of fur and sap. Though winded, Hawkstep seemed awestruck at the dog's markings.
"What are those?" he mewed, hesitating before each word being said.

Ooc: It's ok. Windpaw is in the log, deep in it! Brindlestripe put her there! And, there is only one dog left.

Ic: Brindlestripe spotted what Hawkstep was looking at. The dog, still stuck, had strange markings on it's pelt. "I don't know..."

As the dog struggled to get out of the tentacle-like thorns of the bush, Hawkstep stepped closer. He reached out a steady paw, feeling the markings, but as the dog lashed out with sharp, bloody fangs, he leaped back with a growl.
"They feel... bumpy." he meowed, narrowing his eyebrows.
Feed me. a voice entered his mind, but it wasn't his.
Feed my pups.

Piercing lemon eyes watched Hawkstep as he circled the bush, baring his teeth and ignoring Brindlestripe.
"You will kill us, then eat us. You have no pups." he muttered.

Brindlestripe watched worriedly. She stepped forward, settling her tail between his shoulderblades. He was speaking with no reason, and was probably tired or something. "I think we should go back. You're probably tired, or worse, sick!" She mewed firmly. She started leading him back, pulling.

Hawkstep growled, lashing at her.
"No! Stop!" he meowed, holding his tail up.
Free me. I will leave. another voice entered his mind, deeper, but feminine.
Hawkstep padded cautiously around the beast that they called a dog.
"You won't eat us?" he asked, flattening his ears.
The dog shook it's head. Hawkstep narrowed his eyebrows, beginning to untangle the sticks and leaves from it's mangled fur.

Hawkstep could see the burns on the dogs face where the sharp and sticky branches and leaves had taken effect. The dog broke free, bouncing on its paws. It muttered something in some type of dog language and then glared at Brindlestripe, leaping. It opened its toothy jaws and bit down on her shoulder. Hawkstep snarled and pushed it off, holding it down and throwing it into the bush again.
"You eat no one." he growled, inspecting the quickly bleeding wound on Brindlestripe.

Brindlestripe winced. Blood was not quite gushing, but was bleeding heavily. The wound on her flank from earlier was not bleeding, but ached. She looked gratefully at the tom. "Thanks, Hawkstep," Brindlestripe mewed shyly.

Hawkstep shook his head, nuzzling her wound on her shoulder.
"Anytime." he meowed, glaring at the struggling dog.
It lashed it's chops as Hawkstep began to circle it again with a growl. The thinned-out trees creaked in the breeze, and unseen insects chirped from their cover. He untangled the dog again, watching it as it snarled and watched the four cats around it.
"We have you surrounded. You kill no one." he mewed gingerly, although he didn't rest his paw from a threatening position in the air.

Brindlestripe felt as if she was floating in a void of nothing. She heard faint sounds from the real world, and felt nothing.

"Oh dear..." he mumbled, leaving the dog unattended and waving some lavender from the bush in front of her face so she could come to.
