DuskClan Cloud Hills

The equivalent to BrightClan's moorlands, DuskClan's Cloud Hills retain the name of the Clan that once lived there, and make up a very large part of the north of their territory.
The Cloud Hills are steep, rolling hills covered in patchy tussock-grass and gorse bushes, with herbs only growing in the shelter of these bushes and in places where they don't get too much sunlight.
Rabbits are the most common prey here, though mice and shrews are pretty common as well. Snakes occasionally live here but the most dangerous predator are the hawks that prey on small cats, sometimes able to carry them away.

Brackenwing purred slightly, his breath coming in pants as he finally slowed at the crest of a larger hill. He glanced over his shoulder for his mate, whiskers twitching.

Birdfeather joined him. She shook some snow off of her paws as she stopped, panting. Her breath came out in little puffs of smoke, which was pretty much the only thing she enjoyed about leafbare. "It's melting in between my toes!"

Brackenwing flicked a lump of softer snow at her. "You're so weird. It's just snow!" He grinned.

Brackenwing nodded. "It's always so eerie. But at least we can still hunt." He padded over to a clump of bushes, scenting carefully.

Mintapple peered into the clearing and padded towards a small gray rock with soft ledges and set Mapleleaf down. His paws urged to run after the strong rabbit scent he had picked up, but he glanced over his shoulder for the other burial members and began scratching at the pulpy ground beside the strange rock.

Grassflight took a deep, quivering breath before setting Mapleleaf's head down carefully and watching Mintapple began digging up a spot for her body, and hurried over with a frown as she stuck her claws into the soil and began pawing it up. "I think this was her favorite place," she muttered, emotion tugging at her voice.

Firecloud clawed at the soil, flattening his ears as a dense fog washed over him. Dirt happened to get wedged under his claws, but he ignored it and continued to dig.

Mistystorm dug next to her clan mates, tears forming in her eyes. why did you take the fox head on mousebrain! she thought as she dug, dirt cloging in her claws.

Crowpaw padded up and started digging next to Mistystorm. He started dully at the ground. why did she die. why.

Once the hole was big enough, Firecloud motioned for the other cats to move aside and lifted Mapleleaf by the scruff, lowering her into the pit. He dipped his head in respect one last time and started to kick dirt over her.

Mintapple flicked his tail to Firecloud, flashing a stern look to him. Mintapple huffed the dirt off her body and bent down, touching her cold chest with his paw and dipping his head, glimpsing at the darkening, stormy sky. He licked behind her ear and raised his head with a sigh.

"You'll be missed." he muttered.

Grassflight looked away, whiskers twitching in anxiety. Goodbye, fellow denmate. I'll always love and remember you. I pray that you will watch over us every day and every night, helping us through every pawstep. Thank you. she silently prayed and opened her eyes, licking dirt from her claws.

Dovefrost was up ahead, bounding up the hills. She sat down quickly to rest, her breaths shortened from the run. "It's beautiful up here!" She exclaimed, her head pointed to the sky.

Scarletpetal arrived at the Cloud Hills, standing on top of one and admiring the view. She felt a gust of wind flow past her, blowing her fur flat against her and almost having her lose balance.

Nightfrost padded up beside her, his eyes narrowed a little to stop dust getting in them but enjoying the warmth the sun provided. "I forget how beautiful this place is during the warm moons," he mewed softly.

Having slightly forgotten Nightfrost was hunting with her, she nearly jumped out of her pelt when he spoke softly. But she nodded in response after calming down. "Indeed it is beautiful. I remember coming here often with my mentor; your father. He was the best, and this is where i actually first learned how to hunt." She told him, purring at remebering her deceased mentor.

She stopped purring and didn't say anything, but after several heartbeats she slapped him with her tail before leaping over to another tall bush. She wanted to talk of her former mentor, as she missed him dearly, but she also wanted to hunt too.

She purred back at his response and stopped him by gently placing her tail on his shoulder. "I think there is one over there." She mewed quietly while pointing with her tail to a small bush several foxlengths away. She smelled rabbit, but also the scent of mice too. So she wasn't sure which was in the direction.

Nightfrost scented the air for a few moments, then dropped down into a hunting crouch as he heard the small snufflings of mice. He padded in the direction of the animals, pointing his tail for Scarletpetal.

Scarletpetal followed in the direction both had pointed to, and she stalked toward them. She could hear a few mice, and hoped they were plump. She saw one poke it's head out, but she waited for more to show from the bush.
