Peachpaw stumbled into the cave behind Mistleleaf, her claws clicking against the hard stone floor. She shrunk herself against a rock after seeing three new medicine cats, afraid they would be disgusted by her scar.

Hollyshade dipped her head to the WaterClan medicine cats. She rested her tail on Hazelflight's shoulder, whispering reassuring comments into her ear. "It's going to be okay. Roseleaf is watching you now. She'll protect you."

Carnelianpaw looked up when she heard Peachpaw, flicking her ear. She got to her paws and padded over. "Peachpaw," she purred happily, blue eyes gleaming.

Peachpaw frowned. "Is it Deadly Falter? Mistleleaf told me about the time it swept through the Clans." she asked, getting uneasy at the mention of a new sickness.

Mistleleaf sighed softly. "I'm stepping down from my medicine cat position," she mewed. "I, Mistleleaf, medicine cat of WaterClan, call upon our ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat and, with your help, she will serve her Clan for many moons. Peachpaw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"

Peachpaw widened her eyes. But, Mistleleaf... am I already that old? she thought, hesitantly stepping onto a rock beside Mistleleaf. "I-I do." she mewed, envisioning a long life ahead of her full of many saved patients from WaterClan and otherwise.

Owlpaw purred loudly. "Peachcloud!" he called a little loudly, feeling his fur flush in embarrassment for his enthusiasm.

Peachcloud felt her fur grow hot. She touched her nose to Mistleleaf's shoulder gently and purred, hoping that she would have a good life as an elder. "Wow... I didn't expect this. What made you decide to retire, Mistleleaf?" she asked her former mentor, but couldn't help glancing back to meet Twistedleg's gaze.

It seemed like just yesterday I was going on my first task for you and that dog attacked." she meowed, and for once she didn't feel the need to hesitate or cower at the mention of her scar.

Ooc: Right, isn't Seabreeze suppose to do it because she is her apprentice? Or does Hazelflight do it?

Twistedleg nodded respectfully towards Peachcloud, his pelt tingling with a strange feeling. Now that Mistleleaf will be retiring, Peachcloud will take her place, which means that-- The gray-blue furred tom shook his head slightly to himself, such a thing could never happen, for it was breaking the code.
