Willowfeather tried not to jump from the touches to her stomach, knowing it would just make everything worse if she did. She bit down onto the stick every time the pain intensified.

Tulippaw counted in her head, then looked up at the queen. "I can hear four or five heartbeats." She touched with her paw again. "When the pain comes again, push hard."

Willowfeather nodded and when she felt the next wave of fiery agony, did as the apprentice told. Her teeth dug into the stick in her mouth, claws holding it in place while growls reverberated throughout her body.

Coldfoot rushed into the nursery. "Is everything going okay?" he mewed nervously.

Willowfeather yowled around the stick, her claws tearing pieces of the bark off as she pushed each time the pain became unbearable.

IC: Hollyshade looked around the nursery frantically for her apprentice, Spiderpaw. "Where in SoulClan is that cat?" she growled, rushing out and into the medicine den for some poppy seeds.

Talonstep paced outside of the nursery, amber eyes gleaming with worry in the moonlight.

Willowfeather hissed as she pushed, flattening her ears to her head as she felt the first kit push out. She relaxed momentarily, panting.

Hollyshade gasped as she hurried back into the nursery with a frown. She gently picked up the first kit and licked its fur backwards, laying it in a fresh, warm bed of moss. Spiderpaw will never become a full medicine cat if he isn't around for a birth! she thought, turning her gaze from Willowfeather to the first kit continually.

Talonstep whirled when he heard the highpitched mewls from the first kit, ears twitching as he listened. He poked his head inside and gazed at the tiny, wriggling ball of cream colored fur, backing out when he heard Willowfeather growl at him.

Willowfeather squared her shoulders and pushed, claws unsheathed all the while.

Willowfeather kept pushing until she felt the second kit, sheathing her claws and relaxing to take a much needed breath.

Vixenlight was curled tightly around her kits, blocking the scene from them.

Tulippaw padded back over and began licking the tiny kit to get her warm. "Only a few more," she mewed encouragingly to Willowfeather.

Applekit flattened her ears, trying to get lost in sleep. "I can't wait until I'm an apprentice. There's too much chaos in the nursery, too many kits. The apprentice den better not be this chaotic, or I'll go out of my mind" Applekit mumbled as she put her paws on her ears. "SoulClan save me."

Willowfeather continued the process until all five kits were born, her green eyes tired as she looked down at them cuddled up to her belly. "Creamkit, Jaykit, Skykit, Goldkit, and Crystalkit," she mewed softly, licking their heads.

Brindlekit managed to get around Heatherdawn and stared at the small kits in awe. "They're tiny! Why are they so small?" she immediately asked, Tulippaw purring.

Talonstep pushed his way into the nursery and immediately went to Willowfeather, lying next to her.

Willowfeather purred and looked at Brindlekit. "Soon enough they'll be bigger and you can play with them," she meowed.

Brindlekit turned her nose up. "I don't play with younger kits. They're mousebrains." She stalked back to her nest with her mother, and Tulippaw rolled her eyes before turning back to the queen.
"Eat the borage and raspberry leaf. Call for one of us if anything is wrong." She smiled and dipped her head at the queen before leaving.

Willowfeather flicked her ear and did as told, leaning down to eat the herbs. She licked her muzzle clean, leaned back against Talonstep and relaxed.

Talonstep looked down at the kits with a curious gaze, focusing mostly on Creamkit. She was so small, even with being a newborn. Must've been the runt, he thought to himself and rested his head on his paws.

Mistykit peaked out from behind her mother, padding over to Willowfeather. "What are their names?" She mewed curiously, sniffing the kits.

Talonstep puffed out his chest, amber eyes gleaming with pride. "Skykit, Jaykit, Goldkit, Creamkit, and Crystalkit," he meowed, gesturing to each kit individually with his tail as he said their names.

Riverswoop glanced up as Tulippaw padded back into the medicine den. "All's well?" he asked, and the medicine apprentice simply nodded as she got into her nest, head on her paws and falling asleep in a moment.

Prepare for dawn patrols! Reminder to medicine cats that there is a meeting this evening.

Clan update: DuskClan is doing well, however suspicions will be cast around the Clan as cats share rumours about what happened during the battle with the other Clans. Tension will build as they try to decide whether or not to help FireClan. (hint for later: they don't help)

Scorpionclaw stalked out of the warriors' den, stretching her stiff limbs. She breathed in the cool, morning air, relishing the moments before it grew warm.

Primrosekit bounced out of the nursery, fluffing out her calico fur. She sat outside the den entrance, whiskers twitching impatiently as she waited for her siblings to wake up.

Brindlekit stalked out of the den, tail up like a swaying branch, and pounced on her sister with a loud squeak of happiness.

Rainpaw watched the sunlight begin to filter through the walls and roof of the medicine den, sighing silently before getting to his paws to look for his mentor, Gingerpatch.

Gingerpatch padded out of the nursery, letting her paws embrace the coolness of dawn. She spotted Rainpaw in the corner of camp and bounded over. "Good morning, Rainpaw," she mewed. "I'm so glad the weather's getting nicer. Maybe we could go out and train today."

Primrosekit let out a yowl as her sister pounced on her, playful pummeling her belly with her hind paws. With a growl she grabbed on to Brindlekit's neck fur, pulling her off of her.

Coldfoot sat nervously next to Blueshine, the old she-cat looking even worse than the day before. No cure for old age. He sighed and trotted out of the medicine den into the dawn light.

Hawksky sat at the entrance of camp, holding vigil, heart hammering. I'm a warrior now!!! I'll be able to sleep in the warrior's den!!!

Rainpaw purred. "That would be fantastic! Are we doing a patrol, though?" he asked, looking around for the deputies.

Brindlekit squeaked with excitement and went limp. "Damn, you got me."

Nightfrost brushed his head up Scarletpetal's pelt as he followed her out. "I don't think you get much choice, considering the deputies decide," he teased softly.

Tulippaw awoke from a rather heavy sleep with a sudden jolt, taking a moment before the dream came back to her. She shook her fur out, shivering slightly.

"Naw, I thought it could just be us two!" Gingerpatch purred, tail swishing. "You're quite the quick learner so I'm sure we can go train a bit right now and then come back in time to join a hunting patrol."

Littleflower heard her name and padded over to Nightfrost, Scarletpetal, and Dawnfire. She only overheard the first part of the conversation about Scorpionclaw. "I was actually just about to organize a border patrol to check and see if the rogues are out and about. You three can join me if you'd like." she meowed, ignoring the fact that they were saying rude things about her fellow deputy.
