“Can you really help? My task includes keeping the dogs away on their morning run and not being attacked by the rooster.” He challenged.

IC: Rooster turned to where the dogs were coming out. "Alright. The dogs will chase the chickens and some of the smaller ones can jump the fence. We have to keep them away from the fence and keep the dog away." He said.

"Yes." Rooster said and leaped into action, skillfully chasing a small chicken and her chicks into a safe nook and swiping at the dog.

Sapphire launched himself at a hen, scaring her into a nook and swiped at the dog that was about to attack her.

"Stay away." Rooster growled as the aggressive rooster came back, feathers fluffed up. He grabbed the rooster by it's tail feathers and shoved it into a safe area. He snarled at the dog, his fur fluffed up twice his size.

Sapphire kept scratching at the dogs nose until it whimpered and bolted, before he went after another who was attacking a hen.

Rooster jumped up to grab a hen that was trying to fly over the fence and put it somewhere safe. "Stupid dogs only chase them for sport. Hunting them is one thing ut seriously dogs?"

Sapphire laughed at Roosters comment and launched himself at the dog, landing on its back and clawed at its ears.

Rooster snarled at the small dog, blood staining his muzzle and his paws. the dog went running off. "Stupid creatures." the black tom mewed and licked one of his wounds.

Sapphire jumped off the dog and hissed and the dog bolted. He walked over to Rooster. "You ok?"

Indie felt a small twitch in her belly, hissing lightly and scaring the mice away, silence falling on her ears. She sighed and sat back, grooming herself again.

Rooster saw a rabbit munching on a crop and slammed a strong paw on its spine and picked up the fat prey. “Better get back. Indie might need me. See you tomorrow?” He said and padded back inside and up into the barn loft with his prey.

Rooster laughed and limped over. “One of the new cats is a good fighter. Helped me fight the dogs.” He said.

Indie nodded slowly. "Interesting. Wonder if you'd both be able to help our kits learn to fight," she added, winking and licking his cheek.

“Our kits will be wonderful, and they’ll fight off the dogs together and be impossible to stop.” He said comfortingly, sitting down oddly with his injured leg.

Sapphire grabbed a mouse for himself from the pile that his sister had made. "What did you guys do today?" He asked them.

Amethyst smiled. "Nothing much, just hunting and getting to know everyone."

Topaz laughed. "Emerald fell into a scrap pile around here . It was hillarius." He said.

Emerald rolled her eyes. "Very funny Topaz. What did you do , Sapphire?"

Sapphire smiled. "I did a bit of dog chasing with Rooster. It was fun. I might help him again tomorrow too.:

Rooster screamed and scrambled down the barn loft ladder, but ended up falling halfway through. He remembered someone telling him about queens and sticks. He set off to find something.

Rooster kept running. “Indie’s kitting! I need a stick!” He yowled and ran right over near the main house. There was a small tree there and hopefully there was a stick big enough.

Sapphire started running after him before stopping and staring at the bush before him. It was a raspberry bush. He grabbed leaves of it and ran to where Indie was. He stopped and waited for Rooster in respect.

Rooster grabbed a stick and ran quickly. He painfully climbed up the ladder and shoved the stick. “Bite.” He ordered.

Indie looked up at her mate with love. "Tha-" She didn't even finish the word before a screech seemed to get ripped out of her, making her shift slightly into a more comfortable position.

Indie grabbed the stick and bit down as another pain came, pushing and surprisingly easily giving birth to the first small, wet kit.

Indie growled low in her throat. "Lick it," she snapped. "Make sure its breathing." She bit down again on the stick, the second and third kits following easily compared to the first.

Rooster let out a small growl and licked it fiercely, trying to get it warmed up. Once he finished he took the second and started licking that one, slightly grossed out at the thought of licking them.

Once the pains subsided, Indie licked the third kit, feeling its tiny heart beat under her tongue. When it gave a small squeal she nudged it closer to her belly, looking up at Rooster with awe. "We've got kits."

Indie purred lightly, licking his cheek and looking down at them. "This one looks like you," she pointed out to the smallest kit, a tuft of fur on his head sticking up.
