She rolled her eyes at him, but did as she said and began to be a little bit less careful as she ran.

Grinning, he sped up and dove into a patch of wild flowers, crouching down so that he disappeared under the leaves and petals.

Mouseheart slowed down, looking curiously at the area he had disappeared into. She took a few steps toward it, anticipating him jumping out at her.

He quickly shuffled behind her, being careful not to move many stems. Wriggling his haunches, he leaped out behind her, knocking both of them over onto the plush grass. He pushed his paws gently onto her shoulders, pinning her down. "Gotcha."

Mouseheart couldn't help but let out a soft, half-hearted yelp as she was pinned down. She giggled and instead of struggling to get away from him, she reached up and licked his cheek, purring.

He narrowed his eyes slightly and leaned down, rubbing his muzzle against hers. "See, relax once in a while." he whispered. "You never know what might happen."

Mouseheart purred louder and twined her tail with his. "Mmm...I guess you're right." She felt so incredibly...alive with him. Like nothing could stop them.

He nodded and gently stepped away to allow her to sit up, keeping their tails twined. "See, if you confine yourself to hunting or patrolling, you miss things like this." As if the air around them caught on to what he was saying, a breeze blew, ruffling their fur. "You don't see things like this in the camp do you?"

Mouseheart sat up, regarding him with a soft expression. She could see what he meant, but... she just wasn't as brave as some other cats in the clan. Still, she knew that wasn't what he wanted to hear. "No, you don't," She smiled. "It's beautiful."

He nodded, leaning into her a bit. "Y'know, sometimes I wonder what'd it be like to live without clan responsibilities. To only have to take care of myself." He knew what he was saying would shock her, but it was true. What would it be like to not have to deal with so many other cats every day?

Mouseheart's expression changed to genuine surprise, then one of worry mixed with hurt. Did he want to leave her? Was he not...happy? "Do you want to leave...me?" She wasn't making an attempt to hide her feelings for him this time. She thought of her mother, Whitepoppy, who'd left the clan a moon earlier.

He quickly turned to her and shook his head vigorously. "Of course not! That isn't what I meant Mouseheart, honest! I- If I were to leave I'd ask you to come with me, but it was just a thought, I swear!" He explained, hardly taking a breath. He couldn't believe she thought that's what he meant.

Mouseheart let go of the breath she'd been holding, feeling relieved. She shifted closer to him, leaning against his shoulder. "I...I think that life would be very tough," She spoke slowly and carefully, turning mid sentence to look at his face. "But I would go with you if that was what you really wanted." She couldn't deny the twinge of anxiety that she felt saying that, but she wanted to be with him...even if it meant leaving.

He blinked in surprise and tilted his head, flattening his ears a bit. "Are you sure...? I'm not saying that I would leave... but could you just... up and walk away from everything?" he asked, blue eyes showing worry for the she-cat.

Mouseheart was a little bit surprised by his reaction, but happy nonetheless. She purred as loud as he did, staring up at him with a teasing smile. "Maybe that's what I'm trying to do!"

She stood up and shook out her fluffy pelt. She looked around them, trying to etch this memory inside her head in great detail. She twined her tail with his again, wondering if they would act this in public now rather than their awkward-flirty way before.

Lilyflower padded here with her clan mate close behind. "Alrighty, so I'll look for catmint, which is harder to find, you look for juniper berries. Sound good?" She suggested, turning to Tawnypaw.

Tawnypaw nodded and parted her jaws for any scent of the scarlet-red berries. She pressed her nose to the ground until she found some and clamped them in her jaws, eagerly bounding back to the warrior and puffing her chest out in triumph.
