Shadetail looked around before seeing Larkflight. With wide eyes she hurried over to her, moving pieces of the den away so that she could get to the warrior.

Creekstar watched, frozen with shock.
Fallowfern gasped as she saw that her mother was in the den.

Larkflight drifted into unconsciousness, the only way her body could cope with the pain.

Creekstar was still in shock, and didn't know what to do.

Shadetail and Ravensky finally got to the warrior and gently pulled her out. "Rubystripe!"
The medicine cat hurried over, looking at Larkflight with worried eyes. "She should be fine... Can you bring her to the medicine den?"
Shadetail nodded and they both picked her up.

Larkflight gasped as she drifted back to consciousness. "It hurts..."

"I know Larkflight, I know." Rubystripe pressed her nose to her fur to see if she could find any other wounds and blinked in surprise. "Thrushpaw, get me a stick and some borage and raspberry. Quickly." she mewed.

Vixenkit stepped back in instinct. She let out a few violent coughs. She had breathed in a lot of smoke when she accidentally passed through the area of the erupting volcano

Thrushpaw nodded, and zipped away, coming back with the herbs, and rushing outside to find a stick. He nearly crashed into a shocked Creekstar, whom had no idea what was going on.

Larkflight's belly clenched painfully again, and she barely had the strength to cry out.

"Ravensky, come on. Rubystripe and Larkflight both need room." Shadetail meowed, earning a nod from the former queen.

Larkflight's breath came in ragged gasps. "If I don't survive, make sure my kits do." She mewed to Rubystripe, clenching her teeth as a large pain came and the first kit, a small tabby and white shecat, was born.
Thrushpaw raced back in with the stick.

Thrushpaw licked the first kit clean, then turns to his mother.
Larkflight gasped and bit down on the stick as the next two kits followed in quick succession. A bit of blood came with them.

Rubystripe licked the kits and pushed them near Larkflight's belly so they could get warm. She sent a short glance at Thrushpaw, showing him the concern and fear that she'd kept from the queen.

Larkflight's belly clenched again, and she could almost feel her energy ebbing out of her paws.

"You and I both know that isn't true. Now get down from there! That's an order!" the deputy yelled.

Creekstar sighed. "Icekit," he pointed to the first tabby and white kit.
"Brookkit," Larkflight looked at the second, brownish tabby, "Mousekit." She pointed to the gray and brown tabby.
"And Rabbitkit." Creekstar licked the ear of his spitting image kit, a gray tabby tomcat.
"They're beautiful." Larkflight coughed, and lay her head on her paws softly.
