Musicstar turned to Rowanwhisker, her eyes betraying the feelings that the rest of her actions did not. "They said they'd be back before dusk." she stated, glancing down at the two kits at his feet.

Birdfeather picked up the kit she was carrying before and touched Rowanwhisker's shoulder with her tail tip. "Maybe they'll catch up with us." She mewed to comfort him, though she had no hope of that.

Rowanwhisker growled and shrugged her tail off. He knew that everyone believed that the deputies and Russetface were dead, but he couldn't.

Musicstar raised her voice. "We're leaving now!" she called, then turned to the medicine cats. "If you want to go to your meeting then feel free, but you're welcome to come with us."
