ic: Ryekit paused from the game to look at where Phoenixkit and Summerkit had been. They weren't there. Whatever. dont care where they went. He thought, continuing to battle with Wingkit.

Brackenpaw quickly sorted the Watermint and Horsetail then moved onto the cobwebs, pushing them into the small pile that the medicine cats had.

"Brackenpaw?" Sundapple mewed, "While you were out did you collect any colstfoot? We're running low," She put the few leaves of coltsfoot that they had back in its place as she spoke.

Cypresskit faked a yawn, and then said, "I'm bored of this now,"
"Me too," Ryekit padded away from Wingkit, going to sit by Larkkit and licked his paw.

Sundapple entered the camp, jumping a bit as Dappletail jumped out to meet them. "Have you seen Spiderkit and Summerkit? We think they went our of---"
Her sentence cut off as she spotted the two, Spiderkit attempting to hide behind Brackenpaw.

Cypresskit sat behind Dappletail, her expression one that clearly stated, Oh, you are so in for it.

Summerkit followed Sundapple into camp and stood face to face with her mother. "Mother..." She said realizing that she would be in trouble with her for leaving camp. She was still trying to warm up from the cold water she had been in.

Sundapple grimaced a bit. "Er, Summerkit and Spiderkit both went for a little...swim in the river, so they should be warmed up as quickly as possible," She said.

"I'll make sure they are, thank you, Sundapple," She said, glancing at the medicine cat with gratitude in her eyes.

Sundapple nodded, heading off to the medicine den.

"Do you know how worried I've been?" Dappletail pulled both kits closer to her with her tail.

Phoenixkit took that as her cue to leave, and she trotted over to her siblings, who turned to stare at her in unison.

"I'm fine mother, really." Summerkit said as Dappletail pulled her and Spiderkit closer.

Owlkit saw Pheonixkit coming up to them and said "Oh, look who's back. She went on an adventure without us!"

"Oh please." Phoenixkit scoffed. "You would've been too scared to come anyway."
"Where did you go?" Larkkit asked, her blue eyes light with curiosity.
"I'm not sure, but there was a river."

"You might not have been!" Dappletail said, sighing as she realized the sharpness of her tone. "I'm sorry. But you guys scared me,"

"Sorry, mother." Spiderkit said, studying his paws. "I promise I won't do it again,"
Cypresskit snorted at the formal, generic apology, but quickly tried to pass it off as a cough as Dappletail flicked her with the end of her tail.

"No I am not a scared y cat." Owlkit said in defense, ignoring everything else.

"Well, I am sorry." Summerkit said. She didnt exactly mean to scare anyone or cause trouble she just wanted to explore and have fun.

"Okay," Dappletail gave Summerkit's head a quick lick. "You two go and get warmed up." She nudged them towards the nursery.

Ryekit was scratching a pattern in the ground with one claw, watching his paw moved as if it belonged to someone else. "How would you know, she didn't say what she was doing." he pointed out, not looking up.

"I'll be okay, but if you say so." Summerkit said. She didn't really want to get in more trouble right now.

Spiderkit nodded, heading into the nursery and curling up. He actually was quite cold and was happy to rest his legs.

"Oh just wait." Phoenixkit said. "I bet you'll still be scared, even when we're apprentices. Scared of everything." She lashed out, taking her stress from the river incident out on them.

Summerkit let out a slight cough before following him. She layed down and tried to rest.

"Can you tell me what happened at least? Please?" Owlkit said. He could tell that his sister was stressed.

Larkkit watched Phoenixkit, narrowing her eyes.

"Nothing happened!" She insisted, throwing a glare at them all, which caused Ryekit to flinch the tiniest bit.
Larkkit didn't waver, she held Phoenixkit's gaze before the she-kit whirled around without a word and stalked away.

"Why are you friends with her?" Spiderkit asked in a soft voice, not looking up. "You almost drowned because of her. I sure don't like her."

Owlkit sighed. He still wanted to know what happened but he didn't want to keep asking about it.

"I don't know. I just feel that her and I have some sort of connection." Summerkit answered

Larkkit opened her mouth to make an excuse for Phoenixkit, but Ryekit interjected.
"Don't bother, we know that she's in a bad mood." he said, glancing at Phoenixkit's turned back, hoping she was out of earshot. "She's always in a bad mood."

Cypresskit yawned, glancing over at Larkkit, Ryekit and Owlkit.

"I overheard Sundapple," Cypresskit mewed as she padded over. "Apparently Summerkit was in the river. I think she fell in."

Brackenpaw followed Sundapple and took a small feverfew leaf, quickly chewing it up and swallowing. He could still feel shivers wracking his body but hopefully the herb would help. "Would the kits need anything besides this and a poppy seed maybe Sundapple?" he asked, pointing to the feverfew in front of him.
Cynderpaw glanced at the tom and hurried over, concern shining in her brown eyes. "What happened?"

Yang looked around for Shardtalon, wondering if he would want to play right now. Giving up trying to find him after a few minutes, he padded over to the group of kittens and looked in awe at Cypresskit; she was pretty.
"Can I play with you? I've got nothing else to do, anyway." he squeaked with quiet delight, trying not to sound too desperate for some playmates.

"No, they should be fine with that," Sundapple said. "Could you go ahead and give it to them?" She started sorting the coltsfoot that she hadn't forgotten, taking the oldest leaves out and placing them on the top of the pile so they'd be used first.

"I bet I could have swam in the river," Cyrpesskit thought out loud. "Without drowning."

Summerkit squirmed a bit in her nest because she couldn't sleep. The cold was making her cough on and off.

Spiderkit uncurled, instead sprawling out in the nest. He wasn't cold anymore, but his fur was still damp.

"You could probably get some tips on how not to drown from Spiderkit," Ryekit mewed, nodding towards him as he was coming out of the nursery.

"Okay." the tom glanced at Cynderpaw and shrugged, grabbing a small pile of feverfew in his jaws after taking a poppy seed. "The kits went for a swim." he explained flatly, making his way toward the nursery.
"A swim?" she hurried after him, frowning in concern. "Are they alright? Were they hurt?"
"They're fine, just shaken up and cold... They shouldn't have left the camp in the first place." The bitterness in his voice surprised Cynderpaw, she hadn't really heard him angry before.

Brackenpaw met the kit's eyes and laid the leaves in front of her. "Eat one those for right now." he explained, turning his gaze to Dappletail. "They should eat half a poppy seed each, if they say they're still cold when they wake up, give them another half a leaf of feverfew."
Cynderpaw blinked in surprise. Now the tom sounded calm, the anger disappearing before her eyes.

Spiderkit obediently ate his half of the poppy seed, not daring to question it when he suspected he was still going to be in trouble.

Littlefern, who'd seemingly appeared out of nowhere, stood behind Brackenpaw and watched the kits with disapproving amber eyes. She tutted under her breath and watched them each swallow their poppy seeds, impressed with Brackenpaw's choice of medication.

Troutpaw padded around the outskirts of their camp, inspecting the wall of thorns and brambles that protected them. No one had ordered him to look for holes or weaknesses, but as a warrior in-training, he felt it was his duty.

Minnowpaw sulked inside the empty apprentice den. The beautiful calico's expression was one of sorrow mixed with loneliness. She curled into a tight ball, her sleek tail wrapped around her body.

Brackenpaw nodded and offered Summerkit a warm smile. "Be more careful in the future, and no more out of camp adventures." he warned before turning and padding back to the medicine den. He nodded to Cynderpaw as he passed and caught Littlefern's eye.
Cynderpaw grinned back at him before walking over to Troutpaw. "Eh? What're you doing?"

Littlefern gave the kits one last look before following Brackenpaw. Even as a full grown cat, she was still noticeably smaller than her younger denmate. "Good work on treating the kits." She mewed to him.

Troutpaw stopped briefly to look to see who'd spoken to him. He kept walking after a moment, still checking the barriers. "Looking for weaknesses." He called over his shoulder as he went.

"I was just doing what needed to be done." he meowed nonchalantly. "We can't risk new kits getting sick after taking stupid risks." Even if he didn't want to be angry still, he couldn't help but be that way. What were those kits thinking?
"Oh? I'm sure it's fine..." Cynderpaw mewed quietly, matching his strides.

Littlefern chuckled at Brackenpaw's attitude toward it. The clan needed their kits, that was true, but it wasn't like neither of them had probably dreamed of learning to swim as kits. "Well, they are WaterClan kits."

"You can never be so sure." Troutpaw had almost made full circle of the camp. No holes, no noticeable weaknesses. Boring.

"Even so. They should know that they're not allowed to leave the camp. Forget the swimming, what if a rouge or something else had found them?" Now his anger was dissolving into belated worry.
"I guess that's true..." she admitted. "But even so, the warriors make sure the camp is always protected.

Littlefern tapped him on the head with her tail in a playful, but mature manner. "Calm down. They are fine, thanks to you. No use worrying over things that didn't happen."

Troutpaw stopped and fixed Cynderpaw with a determined stare. "If the wall has holes in it or weaknesses, they can get into camp in more ways than just the entrance," His voice was reminiscent of a commander or general. "The more ways they can get in, the more we are put at a disadvantage. If they can only get in one way, then we wouldn't be fighting them from all angles."

"I know that." she huffed. "But see, you just wasted time checking for something and found nothing."

"It's only wasted if I had something to do instead. I didn't." Troutpaw rolled his eyes at his denmate. "Don't you have any girly things to go do?"

Littlefern chuckled again and padded on at a quicker pace to the medicine den, disappearing inside ahead of Brackenpaw.
