Pigeonpaw sat near the entrance to the apprentice's den. She had just recently became an apprentice, and besides learning new things, she did not like it one bit. She was lonely, and without her mother's warm pelt and soft words to coax her to sleep, she always had a hard time falling asleep.

Ebonyfur yawned, finishing up the shrew she was eating as she watched her kits play-fight. She stood to her paws, and flicked her tail, to motion for them to come. "It's time to go to sleep, little ones," She meowed with a slight purr.

Fernkit stumbled over to her mother, almost tripping over her own paws. "Okay, mother!" She mewed, then glanced back at her littermates with an excited squeak, "We can still dream about play-fighting!"

Mallowkit purred a little, standing up. "I can tell you a story, if you want?" she suggested to her adoptive siblings.

Fernkit's eyes shined with determination. "what's the story about?" She questioned Mallowkit, her eyes wide with curiosity.

Ebonyfur rounded up the kits, her whiskers twitching with amusement as she slowly guided them back to the nursery with her tail, without them realizing as they chatted.

Fernkit's eyes widened in even more amazement. "What! More Clans?" She blurted out loud, her voice filled with awe, and curiosity. The tortoiseshell shekit padded into the nursery den, and sat down on their nest, looking up at Mallowkit.

Ebonyfur let out a quiet purr as she lay down with her kits, curling her tail around them as they discussed. The black-furred queen's eyes glistened in delight, and contentment as she watched her kits. She was mostly beaming about how Mallowkit got along so easily with her adoptive-litter-mates, for she was originally a rogue kit abandoned in the forest, taken in by Ebonyfur in pity.

Basilkit finally opened her eyes from a deep slumber at the sound of her siblings. She yawned and stretched out her legs, padding up beside Fernkit. "What's going on?" she purred, licking her paw.

Feathercloud woke up groggily, still tired from her kitting awhile ago. " My precious kits, are you all awake?" she asked them, nosing each one and giving them licks in turn. She wondered how Sandstar was doing and the rest of the clan

Basilkit purred. "Cool!" she exclaimed, gathering beside Mallowkit. "How do you know about the other Clans?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

Nightfoot looked up at Morningleaf. His wound was still aching and he was exhausted, but he put effort into not showing it to his mate. "Sure," he said, eyes twinkling, as he shifted over to the edge of his large moss nest. He couldn't help yawning, and chuckled a little. "Are you as tired as I am?"

Nightfoot frowned at the mention of rogues. "I suppose we should be ready. I'll announce some people to guard shifts throughout the night just in case. I hope the medicine cats make it back safely, with this storm brewing." he mewed, tasting the air and gagging at the metallic rain that began to fall just outside the warriors den.

"Usually nothing terrible happens. Occasionally someone slips on the sacred water and twists their leg, but no one dies." Nightfoot purred a bit, clearly feeling very confident about the medicine cats' gathering.

Lostblaze curled close to Snowlily and licked her ear before falling asleep.

Snailnose curled up in her nest, gently snoring as the red light of the setting sun faded.
Leopardspots yawned and stood vigilantly on guard of the camp.

Spiderpaw hopped into his nest and stretched out, thinking about alligators and how they were scary but also pretty cool.

Briarfrost huddled under the shelter of the warriors den to avoid the rain. She eyed Leopardspots, wondering if she should get some rest or help guard. Briarfrost wanted to be ready in case the rouges attacked.

Spiderpaw watched with interest, not sure if he should intervene. Willowpaw talked a lot but didn't follow through with most of her ideas.

"Does your idea have anything to do with the duck you told me about because I don't think it'll work with an alligator-" Spiderpaw started, getting cutoff by Willowpaw.

"Yes. It's about the nest." Willowpaw finished.

Cherrypaw looked up from her nest and sighed, getting to her paws and stretching. "We should wait till morning, Willowpaw. You saw what happened to Lostblaze, your mentor, when he got attacked by the gator. Not to mention it killed Ottercreek. Plus Lostblaze said he had been touching the nest. If we go near it, we'll end up without heads," she meowed, flicking her tail-tip.

"You haven't even heard my idea furball. And yeah I'll have my head torn off, it's heroic." She purred, taking a bold pose. "I'm going to bet that alligator has eggs in the nest, like this one nasty duck that kept attacking my and Spiderpaw. And just like with the duck, I'm going to move the eggs."

"Quartzpaw is right. It's not heroic, it's dumb," Cherrypaw spat and shrank back when Coalthorn padded up to the entrance of the den, having woken up from the bickering.

"All of you need to sleep," he hissed, amber eyes narrowed into slits.

Willowpaw stuck out her tongue at Coalthorn. "Sleep so I can be ready to be terrorized in my own territory again tomorrow?" she grumbled, settling into her nest. "It's not like alligators are magical, I don't think they could catch me."

Tidepaw flicked his tail as he listened to the other apprentices argue. He stood up, and stuck his chin up proudly. "Well I think that it's a good idea," He meowed, agreeing with Willowpaw's plan, "Just think about it! We could be made warriors sooner if we save the clan!"

Pigeonpaw listened quietly, digging her nose deeper under her wrapped up tail in nervousness. She knew this was a horrible idea, but she couldn't bring herself to speak up in front of the older apprentices, especially when Willowpaw thought it was such a good idea.

Rosepaw frowned, waking from nest next to Spiderpaw. "Our sister is crazy. She needs to understand that Sandstar has his own duties." she whispered in his ear, whiskers twitching.

Shorepaw huffed. "Everybody thinks it's a bad idea. Willowpaw and Otterpaw can go get themselves killed, see if I care." she mumbled more curses inaudibly under her breath and curled up in her nest again, closing her eyes and trying to shut out the annoying voices of the older apprentices.

Quartzpaw nodded, but flicked her tail in Willowpaw, as if considering the idea for a moment. She sat back down in her nest. "If you die out there, its your own conscience. No haunting us from SoulClan or whatever those dead cats do." She tucked her tail around herself and settled down.
