Willowpaw looked from the alligator to the other apprentices and ran to the nest, stamping on it and yowling to get the gator's attention.

The beast hissed, sliding into the water and twisting her head to get the cat off.

Otterpaw was flown off the alligator and hit his leg on a rock. He yowled in pain.

The alligator lunged towards the cat, biting its leg and beginning to roll.

Cherrypaw's eyes widened and she froze in place, torn between running away and running to help. She yowled suddenly, growling as Bearpaw grabbed her by the scruff and dragged her away.

Quartzpaw glanced at the other terrified apprentices, leaping down and grabbing Willowpaw’s scruff. “He’s dead, we need to go, or you’ll be dead too!”

"Don't treat me like a kit!" Willowpaw snapped, feeling her scruff grabbed. "I-I think I remember some medicine...I might be able to help.."

Otterpaw shrieked and yowled with pain and he was dragged, pain convulsing his whole body.

”He’s dead,” Quartzpaw snapped. “I’m taking the other apprentices and going, so you can join us or get eaten too.” She darted back up the slope, shaking mud off her ear. “Head to the Deep Swamp.”

Willowpaw looked at the alligator as it swallowed the bloody meat and shivered. She looked to Quartzpaw and followed the other apprentices, ears flat.

Rainpaw ran off, taking one last look at Otterpaw. Her legs moved faster than they ever had.

Tidepaw ran speedily ahead of the group, not ever looking back at what had become of Otterpaw. Willowpaw is mouse-brained! She's trying to get us all killed! He thought to himself, his fur along his spine beginning to spike up.

Rosepaw whimpered, running after Quartzpaw. Willowpaw barely even notices me! she thought, shuddering as blood trickled down her leg. She glanced over her shoulder to watch Otterpaw's limp body be completely swallowed by the alligator. She sniffed and dashed towards the Deep Swamp to Willowpaw's orders.

Aquatail led the DuskClan patrol into the abandoned camp. “Alright here’s the plan. Swiftwish, take a DuskClan warrior with you to keep lookout for the gator. The rest of you with me, we are going to finish what the apprentices started by smashing the eggs.” Aquatail ordered, flicking her tail towards a reed bed. “The nest is behind there.” She said. “Let’s go. And Swiftwish, if we call for help make sure to come help.” Aquatail said. “Got it everyone?”

Talonstep nodded and followed Swiftwish while Jadestar darted to the nest. "Maybe we should just drop them in the water," the leader meowed and glanced to the cats, her gaze questioning. She shook her head frantically and groaned, sniffing the eggs and wrinkling her nose.

Leopardroar, totally having been there the whole time, raised his nose in the air. The smell of the beast was strong. It would probably be difficult to find its eggs, the stench covering the camp. Leopardroar set his jaw, determined to find the eggs. For Lynxfern, he thought. He padded over near the nursery. He peeked inside, hoping to find something.
