Nettlepaw swam towards shore. Then when she was about to step onto the bank she stepped on something sharp and let out a hiss.

Nettlepaw nodded and set her paw down gently. It kind of hurt her paw where it was cut to set it down on the sand but she tried to ignore the pain.

Nettlefur arrrived that the ponds and dove into the pond water.

Ivylight stepped quietly around the pond, trying to decipher the swirls of scents in the air. One stood out to her - the fresh scent of a vole. She flattened herself to the ground, listening for its small, rapid heartbeat.

Nettlefur looked for signs of fish under the pond water. After a few seconds, he saw a trout and began diving for it. Not long after, he caught the trout and surfaced the pond water with it in his jaws. He threw the trout on the pond bank and went back under in search for more. The clan needed as much prey as they could get with it being leaf-bare.

Ivylight saw the vole lapping up water from a nearby pond. It hadn't noticed her yet, but the wind was changing. Ivylight pounced, seizing the vole between her outstretched paws, and finished it off with a deft bite before it could even squeak.

Nettlefur was above water when Ivylight caught the prey. "Nice catch!" Nettlefur commented

"Thanks!" Ivylight replied, and dropped the vole next to Nettlefur's trout. She pawed some fallen leaves over the prey. "There. Now, other predators will have a hard time finding it."

Ivylight walked slowly around the pond, watching the fish inside. After a moment of observation, she carefully reached a paw in, and batted out a small silver fish, which she quickly dispatched. It wasn't much, but it was food.

Nettlefur picked up the scent of mouse. He followed the scent, stalking it carefully and finally saw the mouse with his eyes. He slowly walked up to it with his paws stepping lightly on the ground with each move. When he got close enough, he waited a couple of seconds and pounced on it killing it swiftly with one fast blow.

"We should," she agreed. "Hey, what's that sound?" Her ears twitched, picking up a faint mewl.

Not far away, a small, dark-furred kit was clumsily stalking a dragonfly. He pounced and landed shakily, with a tiny muffled thump. The dragonfly glided out of reach, over a stagnant pond. With frustration, the kit sunk his small, sharp claws into the damp earth. If only I had wings, he thought. Then I'd show that silly bug!

Mooncloud came across the ponds carrying a mouth full herbs. He should return to the camp soon. A shadow appeard above him, a huge birde striked down, grabbing the Medicincat, as if he was a tiny mouse and liftet him up in the air. He let the herbs fall down, calliing to Ivylight (if she was still there) take this to camp and say I rest with Soulclan!", sas he got carryied away.

"Huh?" Ivylight barely had time to look around before she glimpsed Mooncloud's frail shape in the bird's huge talons. "No! Mooncloud!" she yowled, but could only stare in terror as he was taken.

Ivylight sat down, shaking with fear. "That could have been me," she whispered. After a few minutes, she looked up, noticing the bundle of herbs. It had fallen on a reed bed, and luckily hadn't gotten wet. She carefully picked it up, accidentally crunching a bunch of dry reeds in the process.

The lone kit looked up, hearing a loud crackle of reeds nearby. "What's that?" he squeaked. He hadn't paid much attention to the big bird that had flown up above him, but this was a lot closer to him. "Who's there? You better not think about attacking me, cause I'm ready!" He unsheathed his tiny claws, and bared a row of small, sharp teeth.

"Oh no," she groaned, her voice pained. "These are such hard times." Ivylight observed a moment of sad silence, thinking about her deceased clanmates. "Hmm...I thought I heard something back there," she said, suddenly remembering the mew she had heard. "I'm going to go check it out." She turned around, padding quickly and glancing around the ponds.

"I will," she replied. She cautiously peered through a thicket of reeds and brambles, and was shocked when she came face to face with a bristling little cat!

The kit was equally surprised, but scared as well. He let out a tiny hiss and flattened his ears.

"Easy there, little fellow!" Ivylight said, backing away.

The kit could see that the big cats weren't going to harm him, but he still watched them closely with wide, nervous blue eyes.

Silverpaw comes, she hides in brambles and looks into a pond. She finds only half of her reflection.She looks harder. She sees Luna. She looks away and runs back to camp making sure nobody saw her.

"Loners seemed to leaf there kits alone more often recently. That's how Kindpaw came to us, too", the darkstriped tom leaned forward, grabbing the young cat at his scuff, "A warrior should not come harm to kits, so we better take it in and let the patrols look out if they finde strangers on the territory", he mumbled.
