Sleekfire shrugged. "He might blame you, but that doesn't mean it's the truth. He's hurting, like you." He brushed his tail against the apprentice's cheek. "I can guarantee that right now, Brindleflight is looking down on you from SoulClan and praising every thing that you did. She will be thankful that you brought her body back to the Clan, and that you stood up for yourself so well."

"The clan deserved to be able to pay their respects. My mom was well loved after all," Lightpaw meowed and looked up to the sky. "SoulClan better take care of her or I'll be ripping up starry pelts," he stated and looked to his mentor.

Sleekfire nudged Lightpaw's paw gently. "You're stiff in your shoulder," he mewed. "If you swipe in a smooth motion its much more effective than one where your joint is tucked to your chest. Like this," he mewed, demonstrating with a little exaggeration on extending his foreleg rather than keeping it close.

Lightpaw watched closely and nodded before trying again. He messed up a few times, but eventually got it right.

Sleekfire purred. "Great! It looks like you're mostly okay with fighting, which is good." He paused for a moment, then hummed. "Do you know any of the more complicated Clan moves? Badger defence, upright lock?"

"Oh! Well, this will be fun." Sleekfire stretched a little, then turned to the apprentice. "For the Upright Lock, rear up and use your weight to slam down on the opponent cat," he explained, demonstrating with a thud and cloud of sand as he landed heavily.

Not waiting for Lightpaw to finish the move, Sleekfire reared up as well, grappling with the apprentice for a few moments before managing to flip him on to his back, a dull thump sounding from their bodies hitting the sand. "That is how you counter-move," he purred. "But you have to do it quickly, otherwise you could get belly-raked."

Sleekfire purred and stretched, his shoulder still a little raw from the rather large battle a few days before. "Do you want to keep going? We should be able to hunt on the way back, I'll show you the BrightClan tricks for rabbits."

Snowpuddle arrived at the training grounds, scenting the air in hopes no rogues were nearby. “Flickerpaw, would you like learn some hunting or fighting? Up to you.” She mewed to him, her tail flicking about.

“We’re coming here to train later, aren’t we?” Flickerpaw tilted his head slightly, looking down into the small crevasse filled with sand.

“Yes that’s right.. then we can rest or head back to camp.” She mewed, having forgotten about the training later. She hoped she wouldn’t become so forgetful later on, her new title and duties putting a slight strain on her.

Juniperpaw pelted over to Lightwatcher and Duskpaw, stopping in front of them. "I'm bored," she whined, rolling onto her back and groaning.

Crisppaw padded into the training grounds with Umberthorn at her side, glancing back to Spiritpaw and Feathersnow. They'd buried their prey so they would show up on time.

Snowpuddle shifted her paws a little uneasily, not used to having a lot of attention on her. “Ok, now that most of us are here, we will be training. I’d like for older apprentices to pair up with a younger one. Each pair will take a turn in the middle of fighting. Mentors, watch them and after it is over, then you may correct your apprentice in any way you see is respectful. And please keep your claws sheathed.” She mewed with hesitant words at first. “Pick your partner but don’t sit and chit-chat.” She added,looking over each apprentice.

“If you have all picked your partner please begin training together, then one pair at a time will go to the middle when i say.” Snowpuddle mewed, her voice growing a little more confidant. She didn’t want to sound harsh or mean, but she knew the training was important.
