Clearpaw glanced at Snowpaw and before she got a chance to react leaped and landed square on the other apprentice's shoulders, fake growling.

Hollyblaze watched with narrowed, ice blue eyes. She purred encouragement to her apprentice.

Snowpaw was caught a little off guard, making a small grunting sound from how Clearpaw landed. But she rolled onto her back and swiped a sheathed paw at her. It was slightly hard to tell if she had hit her, mainly from them moving fast.

Clearpaw darted back and then feinted to one side, barrelling past Snowpaw in a move she'd only just mastered, that only worked since they were similar sizes. She dragged a paw down the other apprentice's flank, as if she had her claws out.

Hollyblaze nodded and lashed her tail. "Be quick and agile," she commanded firmly and padded forward, pelt rippling with the movement of her muscles.

Snowpaw grunted a little and since Clearpaw was next to her, she shoved her body into the other apprentice's; minding where she put her weight on her paws. She then twisted and lightly bit down on Clearpaw's shoulder, barely touching her skin as to not harm her.

Clearpaw stopped, then turned to face Dapplestar. "What's the point of this?" she demanded, her fear not quite catching up to her until the words had fallen from her mouth.

"Swapping technique." Dapplestar snapped, bristling, "We need to sharpen our fighting and learn to adapt to other fighting styles to stand a hint of a chance against rogues."

Nightpaw flicked her tail and turned her chin up to the fellow apprentices. She glanced at Hollyblaze and flattened her ears. I wish I could've been her apprentice. She curled her tail around her paws with a small huff.

Clearpaw flattened her ears, but Briarscorch stepped up. "No offence intended, of course, but wouldn't it be easier if some of the mentors swapped apprentices? Or we worked in smaller groups?"

Dapplestar bit her tongue, not wanting to admit that she was afraid swapping mentors would lead to accidental injuries from bigger cats not being careful, or frustrated FireClan cats taking out the emotions on her cats unsupervised.
"We can try that later." she snarled at Briarscorch, "For now, I want to see them fight it out."

Briarscorch dipped her head, ignoring the small stab of hurt she felt in her chest as she stepped back.

Clearpaw shook her head. "I'm not going to fight a cat that's my ally," she mewed with a slight shake in her voice, and turned to Icepaw. "Can you show me that rolling move?"

Dapplestar darted towards them, her lips lifted in a snarl. "Would you do this to an enemy in battle? Pretend she's a rogue! Try to chase her off!" she snapped.

Hollyblaze bristled and stepped between her leader and her apprentice. "Clearpaw, listen to Dapplestar," she hissed and then turned on her leader. "Do try to understand, Dapplestar. The apprentices simply do not want to risk harming an ally," she meowed.

Clearpaw bared her teeth. "You're acting like a rogue!" she snapped. "Nobody will learn by watching two young apprentices fumble around on sand!"

"And no one will learn anything from some kit who's too mouse-hearted to fight chatting it up with her friend over some fighting moves they could possibly demonstrate!" Dapplestar snarled, ignoring Hollyblaze.

Clearpaw let a growl rumble deep in her throat. "You demonstrate, then, if I'm just a lowly kit. I'll be in the nursery, playing mossball," she spat back.

Nightpaw hissed and lunged forward. "If you won't do it then I will," she snapped at Clearpaw and whirled on Snowpaw with a purr. "If that's alright with Dapplestar of course," she meowed.

Dapplestar's ears shot up. "Snowpaw, Darkpaw. Step to the side." she meowed, her voice tense. Her eyes didn't move from Clearpaw as she spoke.

Snowpaw, who simply stood there in surprise but some anger too, watched them. "I think we should go practice with our partner with our mentor's supervising. That way everyone can learn all at once instead of individually." Snowpaw said, having to raise her voice so everyone could hear. "I'm not questioning your authority, i'm just saying that we are basically wasting time doing this. It would go by faster if each pair fought at once, all the pairs." She finished, before looking to Redstar and then to Clearpaw, hoping she said the correct thing.

Snowpaw shuffled her paws a little at Clearpaw's question, but then fluffed her fur up in pride. "Redstar is my new mentor. My first one... he died fighting the rogues that took our camp." She answered, her eyes clouding with grief

Redstar stepped forward, tail lashing. "Snowpaw's idea is fine. We are simply wasting time. Why not make things go twice as fast then taking an hour for each apprentice pair to demonstrate?" she growled, but quickly bit her tongue. "Please, just consider the ideas, Dapplestar. We could learn more in different ways." she meowed.

Snowpaw stood shocked when her mentor and leader agreed with her plan she had mentioned. "She agreed with me.." she mumbled under her breath, her surprise showing from her eyes.

Amethystflower nodded her agreement with Redstar, tail lashing as she watched Dapplestar. She narrowed her amber eyes and looked to Timberwind who was watching the FrostClan leader with distaste.

Blossompaw bristled and hissed, Russetpaw wrapping his tail around her. She glared at Dapplestar.

Duststorm looked to his kits briefly before looking back at Dapplestar. He tensed up, the tension in the air thick enough to cut with a knife.

Songpaw's eyes widened and she flattened her ears. If FireClan leaves they'll be slaughtered! She looked to Badgerpaw, who seemed to be having a hard time keeping himself from snapping at their leader.

"You're the one acting like a kit and making a fuss over nothing." Snowpaw growled at Dapplestar, this now being the second time she has gotten angry and hissed at the Frostclan leader. "Why don't you get your head out from between your tail and listen to us. Doing this training you want is putting not only us but your clan at risk as well. Especially if the rogues suddenly popped out and attacked is." She hissed, her anger growing and her fur bristling.

Redstripe let out a deep growl himself. Although he agreed with the FireClan cats, he glared at the apprentice disrespecting his leader. " You need to shut your mouth right now!" He snapped at the apprentice. " That is a leader and you have no right to be so disrespectful to her!"

Redstar's hackles raised, and she pushed her nose into Redstripe's face. "Be quiet, mouse-brain. Leaders word may be final but there are two leaders here if you haven't noticed." she snarled. Then she turned back to Dapplestar. "I would gladly go back to my territory, but I believe it's you who said my warriors would be to tired in case we got in a fight again!" she hissed. Maybe all these dumb cats should ask their precious SoulClan what to do. That seems to be all the rage this moon. she thought angrily.

"That is enough!" Owlpaw yowled, having heard the argument from where he was looking at a patch of wild garlic, dropping the mint springs he was carrying.m. "I might be just a medicine cat apprentice but look at yourselves!" He turned to Dapplestar. "We are grateful for you taking us in, but that doesn't mean you can control us. We do have our own brains." He then turned to Redstar. "There is no way we will ever take on those rogues without help. Sure, we can try, but I've had an omen, and FireClan will be destroyed otherwise."

Dapplestar held her tongue, glaring at the apprentice, then looking smugly up at Redstar. "Now, let's get back to training." She mewed, "After that lovely demonstration, we can get productive. The rest of the pairs, spread out around the tunnels and practice fighting each other. Mentors, supervise your apprentices. Give them advice as needed and take notes!"

Slightly irritated but satisfied nonetheless, Owlpaw picked up his herbs and returned to camp, mumbling about stupid warriors fighting all the time.

Snowpaw still brised but held her head high as Dapplestar actually said what Snowpaw had mentioned before. "Wherever you think is better to train at we can go there. It's your territory." She then mentioned more quietly to Clearpaw, lying her fur flat and giving a small smile.

Redstar curled her lip, revealing sharp white teeth. She wrapped her tail around Snowpaw and led her into a darker corner. She snarled. "I'd like to tear those rogues but of course I have to keep in mind my Clan," her whiskers twitched, and she sat down by a shrub. "Alright, Snowpaw, what fighting techniques did your previous mentor teach you?" she meowed, still bristling.

Snowpaw was caught a little by surprise when Redstar huddled her to a corner. "I feel the exact same way you do. And i'm sorry if my speaking out seemed to be disrespectful, but my words were true." Snowpaw told her, feeling reassured with her leader's presence. "Cloudheart taught me the basics but some of the moves i do are simply on instinct." She then answered her question.
