Goosepaw wrinkled her nose at the smell of the den. And mumbled something under her breath as Rainpaw brought more prey then she had for the sick cats. She slipped out of the den with an annoyed huff.

Beetlestorm blinked his eyes open as he lifted his head from his nest. He stood up and shook his pelt, sitting down right afterwards as he struggled with getting burrs, and moss out of his tangled fur. The tabby and white tom perked his ears as Blizzardtuft entered the den, and he flicked his tail. "Hello, Blizzardtuft!" He meowed cheerfully, and frowned as he noticed the tom's sorrowful gaze, "What's wrong?"

Rainpaw ignored Goosepaw, dipping his head to Carnelianpaw. "You know, if you need anything I'm always free," he pointed out, eyes shining.

Carnelianpaw smiled and nodded. "I know," she mewed, dipping her head. "I'm running low on borage leaves, could you take Silverpaw and two warriors to get more?" She mewed to him, blue eyes glittering.

Carnelianpaw offered the tom a reassuring smile, flicking her tail over his ear as she padded back to the herb storage. She looked around, picking up a borage leaf gently and turning to show him. "They look like this," she mewed, muffled by it.

Rainpaw sniffed it lightly, his whiskers twitching at the light scent. "Oh, okay. Cool." He waved his tail happily.

Carnelianpaw set the leaf down gingerly and padded to the tom with a smile. "You know what cat mint looks like right? We'll need to stock up on that for Leaf-bare in case green cough comes around," she mewed.

Rainpaw crinkled his nose and padded out of the medicine den, looking for Silverpaw. He called the other apprentice's name.

Brindlekit sat on the side of the camp looking bored. "I want to be an apprentice already," she huffed to herself. "I could be learning to hunt but nooo, Russetstar's too sick to do a ceremony."

Heatherdawn cuffed Brindlekit around the ear. “Russetstar will make you an apprentice when the time is right, and when you start acting like an apprentice!” She said crossly.

Brindlekit looked up at Heatherdawn. "It's not fair! Every other kit got to become an apprentice the moment they turned six moons. How can you expect me to act like an apprentice if I'm not being treated like one?"

Rainpaw's tail flicked. "Carnelianpaw suggested we take a few warriors and go looking for borage," he explained.

“Not every kit gets apprenticed at six moons, some are held back.” She growled. “Now if you really want to do something apprentice-like, you can go get prey for the elders.” She added.

Graycloud grabbed a small thrush from the fresh-kill pile and walked to the medicine den. “I brought prey.” He said tiredly, having stayed awake because of sick cats. “It’s for anyone.”

Leafshade stretched in the dull sunlight, her pelt sleeked down after her morning wash. Once she sat up, with her tail curled around her paws, and her green gaze scanning the camp, she couldn't help but overhear the conversation of the two apprentices. Her ears bent forward in their direction, picking up murmurs of bringing some warriors along. She padded over to them, hoping they'd notice her and bring her along, but being impatient, she instead interrupted them. "Mind If I come along?" She meowed, her wide green eyes filled with sudden excitement for an adventure.

Leafshade let out a small purr. "Great!" She meowed, raising her head shortly after to look around the camp, "Who else are you taking with?" The tortoiseshell flicked her tail tip, scanning the clearing for any possibilities that Silverpaw, or Rainpaw would choose.

Leafshade nodded. "Lead the way, oh-great warrior!" She joked, padding beside Graycloud at a steady pace. Turning to face her clanmate, her whiskers twitched, "Do you have any idea how this borage looks? Because I don't have the slightest."

Hollyshade shifted past the apprentices with a dip of her head, leaving Shrewpuddle and Smokeheart to their business as she rushed into the medicine den. She set the herbs down on a rock and bit her tongue, dipping the dry moss she had brought them in into a small puddle of water and beginning to grind the remedy into it. "Carnelianpaw, how is everybody?" she meowed, steadily reaching into a crack in a boulder for some thyme and at the moment wishing she had more opposable arms.

"Dovefrost gave birth, and I gave Stormpoppy, Goldenmouse, and Cinderpaw the cure. I also sent out Silverpaw and Rainpaw to get herbs with warriors," Carnelianpaw mewed. "Dovefrost had two healthy kits, and I made sure she had borage leaves and raspberry leaves. I told her if she had any trouble sleeping to come here for dandelion root since poppy seeds aren't for nursing queens." The ginger shecat spilled out everything quickly and slumped, smiling shyly at her mentor. "Are you proud of me..?"

Shadowblaze trotted by the medicine den nervously. "Um, do you need anything? I haven't gotten sick and it feels like I'm not helping enough."

"Does anyone want to hunt with me?" Tawnysky called.

Smokeheart dropped off the herbs and went to Tawnysky, yawning slightly. “I can hunt.” He said, wanting to help as much as possible.

Hollyshade's russet lips pulled back as her jaws parted into a yawn. "Great job, Carnelianpaw," she praised, resting her tail on the apprentice's shoulder. In a more hushed tone, she meowed, "Did anyone else... pass?"

"Oh, Carnelianpaw, I think we can actually rid the Clan of this! There was an abundance of the herbs we need at the pool, and we have enough to treat at least half the Clan." Hollyshade beamed, preparing more moss for patients to drink the shredded herbs from.

Skypaw emerged from the elder's den carrying a large ball of moss that she tossed into the dirt place quickly. She lashed her tail and glared at Scarletpetal as she passed the warrior, hissing beneath her breath.
